Mayor's Message
Summer is officially here! It always amazes me how quickly time passes. We have so many great activities in Pasadena; it’s very easy to stay busy and enjoy every minute.

Kicking off the month of June, our Office of Emergency Management will host Pasadena’s annual Hurricane Workshop and Safety Fair. Channel 13 Meteorologist , David Tillman, will share this year’s forecast and update us on preparation tips. Did you know that our OEM partners with the State of Texas to offer evacuation assistance in the event of an emergency? This information and much more will be at the Pasadena Convention Center on June 1. Check our calendar below for details.

Now that school is out, our students can take advantage of all this community has to offer, starting with the FREE services and programs at our Pasadena Libraries. From the Summer Reading Program to story time with the Houston Astros mascot, Orbit, both of our library locations schedule fantastic activities for children and adults.

The warmer weather means more outdoor fun for our Parks & Recreation Department. We are pleased to announce a $300,000 grant from the Houston Parks Board to help with a new parks and recreation master plan. Share your input by taking a quick survey at www.pasadenahealthyparks.com.

In closing, I’d like to wish all the dads in our area a Happy Father’s Day. Our community is stronger because of dedicated dads, uncles and grandfathers who support their families and their community.

Need Help at Home?
Our Neighborhood Network Department is now accepting applications for their second annual Team UP to Clean UP program. Team UP to Clean UP partners neighbors, churches, students, business, industry and volunteer groups with seniors, disabled veterans and economically disadvantaged homeowners who are unable to perform their own minor exterior home repair and yard cleanup. If you or someone you know needs help, contact Pasadena Neighborhood Network to apply.
Milo on the Mend
We would like to commend the talent and heart of our Pasadena Animal Shelter vet tech, Genesis Banda. A while back a citizen brought in an injured and emaciated dog. Shelter staff named him Milo. Genesis took care of Milo for about 7 days to stabilize him. She then coordinated with our previous shelter vet Dr. Zue and Southern Comforts Rescue to take care of Milo’s medical needs and nurse him back to health. Since then, Milo’s story has become Facebook favorite!
Pen Pal Paradise
It was an afternoon of smiles and laughter when several Madison Jobe seniors got to meet their pen pals from Red Bluff Elementary. The groups had been communicating over the school year about everything from hobbies to homework. Special thanks to Peter Piper Pizza for donating snacks.
City Health Department Begins Mosquito Spraying
The City's contractual services for mosquito control began the first week of May. The City will also be sprayed once a month during the months of June, July, August and September. Additional applications will be requested if necessary. The Health Department will continue monitoring and collaborating with TDSHS and Harris County Mosquito Control and will make updates as we progress into warmer weather.
