June 2019  |  Vol. 71, No. 3
TLARGI is a Subdivision of the Rubber Division, ACS
I want to thank everyone who joined us for the April Dinner Meeting at the Knott's Berry Farm Hotel. Scott Van Remortal of Sibelco was our TIPS speaker. He presented on the topic of "Durable Non-Silica Mineral Options for Silicone and History of Substitution as the Low Silica Alternative." After our Knott's signature fried chicken dinner, Co-Chair Graham Pence and Tap Room Quartet treated the group to some exceptional entertainment. It was truly a delight to hear and see this talented group of singers perform. The evening finished up with some wonderful door prizes donated by generous TLARGIans and distributed by Robert White and the Prize Committee. We had some lucky winners that went home very happy.

Our next event is the annual Summer Conference scheduled for June 7-9. TLARGI is excited to announce a new location for this year: Paso Robles, California. Conference Chairman Graham Pence, Sarah Aguilar, and the Summer Conference Committee have worked hard planning the event at this location, which will offer a whole new list of activities and entertainment for us to enjoy. The TIPS meeting will kick off the event at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 7, with a technical presentation by Rick Ziebell on the topic of "Megatrends: How Rubber Can Help." Be sure to also register for the golf tournament on Saturday, June 8. It's a beautiful course and the weather should be fantastic. If you're not golfing, the committee has organized many more activities to keep you busy. For a complete list of the excursions and tours available, please see the "Costs" section of the Summer Conference event page. If you haven't registered yet, I encourage you to do so. Space is limited.

You should have received a letter from the Prize Committee, and shortly you'll be receiving a letter from the Educational Scholarship Committee. Please consider making a contribution to either or both of these committees. We want to thank all who have contributed in the past and continue to do so. Your generosity helps to make TLARGI a success.

Be sure to mark your calendar for TLARGI's highly attended Oktoberfest, complete with a Technical Conference, Expo, and Dinner. This event is scheduled for October 1st at the Phoenix Club in Anaheim.

Deena Campana and the Christmas Party Committee have planned the TLARGI Christmas Party for December 7th at the Hilton Orange County/Costa Mesa. Vanity Fair will be the feature band and will surely keep the party festive and the dance floor alive.

I wish you all a wonderful fun-filled summer with family and friends, and we look forward to seeing you at the upcoming TLARGI events.
