DHS takes part in national initiative to address homelessness, employment
Allegheny County Department of Human Services (DHS) and Partner4Work (P4W), the workforce development board for the Pittsburgh area, recently announced that Allegheny County is one of seven jurisdictions selected to take part in the Pathways Forward Challenge, a systems-change initiative aimed at more effectively and equitably connecting homeless and unstably housed job seekers to employment.

On Tuesday, June 18, five teams of Child Welfare Leadership Fellows gathered at CCAC to present the final phase of their project work focused on the challenge of providing in-home services to families.
SeniorLine works to improve outcomes for local seniors
Engaging with more than 30,000 individuals each year, the Area Agency on Aging’s (AAA) SeniorLine is the “front door” to aging services in Allegheny County and frequently the first contact for people seeking support for a senior.

During this year's in-service day, staff at the Office of Children, Youth and Families (CYF) East Regional Office created a collaborative art piece of twenty-five 8" x 10" canvases titled "Organic Mandala."

Allegheny County Suicides, 2008-2017: Suicide rates have been rising in nearly every state in the U.S. in recent years, and in Pennsylvania and Allegheny County, suicide rates are higher than the nation’s. This data brief and interactive dashboard explore Allegheny County suicide trends since 2008 as well as demographics, causes of death, and publicly funded service usage of those who died.
