Introducing Jenn Lutz: Director of Agency Relations!
|
|
Dear MANNA Partner Agency Network,
With everyone's focus on responding to the dynamic needs of COVID-19, I have not yet had a moment to
introduce myself as MANNA's new Director of Agency Relations
. Having started in the role mid-March, it has certainly been a memorable time to begin in a new position.
With great awe I've watched the team at MANNA leap into action to support our partner network and our community.
The Agency Relations team made up of Amy Sims, Leah Cormier, Kaitlyn Smith, and Chris Rainwater have been dedicated night and day to responding to the needs of our network. The incredible Amy Haynes has been guiding me throughout as she transitions out of her role come July. I could not be more proud to join such
a committed and compassionate team.
My top priority as Director of Agency Relations is simple -
to support the success of our partner network.
Without a strong network of food pantries, meal sites and food resources, our collective mission to end hunger in WNC cannot be achieved.
I look forward to meeting each of you in person one day. Until then, I welcome you to reach out to me directly.
I'd like to hear from you
regarding how your agency is responding to needs during COVID-19: What is your greatest challenge? What is your biggest success? And, of course, how can MANNA help?
Thank you for all you do in times in crisis and in times of calm.
Sincerely,
Jenn Lutz
Director of Agency Relations

Partner Agency Spotlight:
The Lord's Harvest
County or Service Area:
Madison County
Years Open:
11
Hours of Operation
: We work with local Fire Department leaders and other community leaders to pre-position food boxes on Thursdays for open invitation food distribution serving six communities on Friday evenings from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. and one on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Monthly Number of Clients Served
: 7,845 pounds of food is being delivered to 277 families EACH week! Since the inception of this program ten weeks ago, over 39 tons of food has been delivered to the hungry in Madison County!
Favorite Food to Distribute
: Our grass roots beginning included growing potatoes in mountain river bottom soil. Not everything went as planned over the years but we learned and grew and now, because of that knowledge, purchase potatoes from many different sources at discounted prices from folks who are working to help the hunger situation. Because of our connection to the soil all those years ago, we would say that our favorite food to distribute is still potatoes; the staple of many of our mountain folks.
Why do you do this work?
The Lord’s Harvest is a non-profit ministry that was founded by Bill Welsch, director, which seeks to serve God by obeying the commands of our Lord in Matthew 25:31-46 to feed the hungry. Looking into the eyes of those who are hungry, we see the pain and suffering of those who do not have enough to make ends meet. Our ministry seeks to help families and individuals have both staple and fresh food as well as meat to meet one of the needs of those who are struggling to survive in Madison County. We believe we are making a difference in the overall health of the county and in particular in the lives of children, senior adults and veterans who are the primary focus of this ministry.

REMINDERS:
Before dialing up the driver, remember: Every time someone calls, they must pull off the road to answer the phone, causing additional delays. If you have any questions, contact our Warehouse Manager Lee Short at (828) 299-3663 x1260.
Please ask your volunteers to allow a 30 minute window before and after your expected MANNA delivery. Our drivers work very hard to arrive on time, but they may experience unforeseen setbacks while on the road. Giving them this window helps them to stay on track.
