Shop Local: Farmer's Markets Open Up
A great way to help support the Niagara community in these times of uncertainty is to help support local businesses by shopping local! Farmer's Markets have slowly started to re-open throughout the region and nothing screams "summer" more than fresh produce and flowers brought to you by some of Niagara's favourite growers, producers and artisans.
St. Catharines Farmer's Market
Currently the market is only open on Saturdays from 8am-12pm with several safety measures in place to ensure that both guests and vendors are protected. Some of the newly-introduced requirements include a limit on the number of customers allowed in the market at a given time, regular hand sanitization, face masks, no reusable bags, electronic payments, and social distancing. A new online shopping portal has also been introduced to allow shoppers to select their items ahead of time for pick-up during market hours.
Pelham Farmer's Market
Open on Thursdays from 4:30pm to dusk, the Pelham Farmer's Market is slotted to open again on June 11. With online options available for shopping, and enhanced health and safety measures, Pelham Town Square will be home again to some of the best produce available!
Niagara Falls Farmer's Market
Plans to open the Niagara Falls Farmer's Market on June 6th include a potential online platform, and strict measures in place due to COVID-19. The 2020 season will hopefully run through until the Fall at the MacBain Community Centre parking lot. Patrons will be encouraged to have one person per household attend, wear facemasks, bring reusable bags, and keep the first hour of market (7-8am) open for seniors and essential workers only.
