Changing Lives...one dog at a time!
K9 Kupuna Program

We were very fortunate to have received a generous grant from the Friends of Hawaii Charities. This grant will help us to assist the seniors within our community with their pet's needs, including vet bills and other necessities during this time. We are beyond grateful to this amazing charity for giving us the opportunity to extend a helping hand to our community's kupuna.

If you know of a senior in need, give us a call at (808)960-1704.

Lumpia (Now Bindi) Pupdate
We are committed in playing the role of #K9matchmakers. Our goal continues to be that of changing the lives of dogs, one dog at a time.

Here is Lumpia (now Bindi) enjoying the good life in Kona. She gets to run around the yard, patrol and guard the house from wild turkeys, and sleep in the bed alongside her pitbull friend also from Aloha Ilio, Juno. She may be small but she is mighty.
Keep on smiling Lumpia (Bindi)!

Pupdates are always the highlight to our days. Keep sending them our way.

Charlie Girl Pupdate!
This is Charlie girl who has no problem sharing a wonderful home with her new mama and some cat friends. She enjoys going for walks and playing with toys. Charlie is a very special girl who now has an extraordinary family who loves her. Not everyone can handle a dog with grooming needs, but this lady was just what Charlie needed. To say Charlie is enjoying her new life is a big understatement.

Foster Spotlight!
We would like to introduce you to this amazing foster family. Tiana and her wonderful daughter Riley have always been Aloha Ilio Rescue supporters and began their fostering journey with Hina. They enjoy the medium to large sized dogs and don't shy away from those that may be shy at first. These two amazing humans are full of love and attention that our dogs gladly soak up.

Tiana and Riley are currently fostering Pineapple who came to us with her buddy Mac Nut, both are available for adoption.

We appreciate all that Tiana and Riley do for our AIR team and love working with them in our mission to change these dogs lives.

We love you both so much!

Why Foster?

Fostering is a fantastic opportunity to help in our mission to be k9 matchmakers. Fostering, like adopting, is a commitment. The only difference is that instead of becoming the dog's forever home, you help them on their journey to find their perfect family. Your job as a foster is to provide them with a loving environment to flourish in, while providing us with pictures of their progress. You also get to help interview and meet potential adopters and finalize adoptions.

Fostering is addicting and you help to change the lives of many dogs. We have a variety of fostering options from puppies to senior dogs.

Are you ready to become a foster and help us in our mission to change the lives of dogs, one dog at a time?

These before and after pictures feature an emaciated stray we took in after it wandered onto a work site in Hilo. The finder couldn't stop thinking about him overnight and came back to become his foster. Look at the difference just 2 weeks had on this guy!

Eric Young...training dogs for service.

We wanted to introduce you to Eric of @alpha_k9hakalau who comes to test our AIR dogs for their potential to become certified therapy dogs for his clientele.

Here he is featured with Dakota. He helped her to learn basic skills to help her on her journey to find a forever home. Eric also helps us to socialize some of our more shy dogs with human interaction. I am very impressed with this trainer's calm demeanor, his ability to teach the humans how things work, and his patience with both the owner and especially the dog. The dogs are receptive and happy and go crazy when he shows up! Play time!

We love working in collaboration with this young man and appreciate his time and effort in helping these dogs find great homes.
Patiently waiting for their FOREVER!
Mac Nut

Mac Nut came to us with another dog named Pineapple after they wandered onto the property of a lady with children out in Hawaiian Ocean View. He is a sweet, white and black, medium sized terrier pup who is a little nervous with new people at first but warms up pretty quickly. He is good with kids and loves to run around and play in the yard all day long. He also mellows out after playing hard and falls asleep in his bed.

Are you ready to add a Mac Nut to your family?

Ellie came to us after circumstances changed for her previous owner. She is a mellow, medium sized terrier mix. She is house trained and waits to go outside to potty or will use a pad. Ellie is a relaxed girl who wouldn't mind taking walks and then relaxing in her bed.

Can you give Ellie a loving home?
Captain (found a home!)

Captain is a sweet, fun loving, medium pitbull terrier. He loves naps indoors but also enjoys a nice walk. He also enjoys playing in the yard but knows how to be the best snuggler on the couch with you.

Do you need a Captain to run your home?
