“We owe our children – the most vulnerable citizens in any society – a life free from violence and fear.”

Dear Friends,
We find our nation grieving, devastated and furious.
In three months, with 112,500 lives taken away by the Coronavirus, again, we are reminded of the disproportionate burden suffered by communities of color and low-income communities.
Centuries of human rights abuses endured by members of our African-American community, compounded still by systemic racism, demand that we stand for the change that is needed.
As public health environmentalists seeking health and justice, we are called to:
- increase our understanding of the underlying social and economic inequities which deny justice to low income communities and communities of color
- increase our vigilance over the systems that protect health and equity
- ensure that science is translational with the goal of improving health outcomes for everyone
History reminds us, even now as we watch it unfold, that individual actions build a united voice. The time is now for each of us to stand against racism for the betterment of society, health, and justice for all.

Support our COVID-19 Research & Families
|
|
The Center is conducting COVID-19 research as part of the ECHO Study.
Our cohorts are located at the current epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic, such as the South Bronx. As early evidence indicates minority and low-income populations are disproportionately impacted. We have an unparalleled opportunity to understand the impacts of this pandemic by engaging our already available cohorts in COVID-19 research.
We have been in the process of transitioning our research work to virtual questionnaires. Due to the comprehensive design and multiple check-ins, conducting surveys via phone does not suffice.
Many of our families are low-income and do not have the means to own electronic devices. This work is just beginning, and we need your support to help us purchase tablets for families in need.
Our goal is to raise $30,000.00
to purchase 200 tablets, (Fire HD 10 tablets at $150.00). Please
give
today, a gift of 2 tablets-$300.00, 10 tablets- $1,500.00, 100 tablets- $15,000.00.
The devices will:
- provide the families with the means to stay abreast of emerging information ensuring their well-being and facilitate their children's virtual lessons.
- allow for the new COVID-19 research questionnaires to be implemented.
- allow for our on-going environmental health and justice research to continue among the same groups.
We know this is a difficult time for everyone and your support is especially appreciated.
