Lighthouse Shoreline Work
The Village will undertake shoreline protection work at the Lighthouse Grounds in June. The high water levels on Lake Michigan have caused significant erosion along the Lighthouse shoreline, especially along the south end of the grounds.

Vassh Excavating and Grading, Inc. has generously offered to supply the Village with labor and equipment for the project.

During the revetment construction, access to the shoreline will be limited and the area will be closed off to visitors.
June Lighthouse Tours Cancelled
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, and concern for the health and safety of our visitors and volunteers, the Village has canceled the Lighthouse Tower Climb that was scheduled for Sunday, June 6.

The Parks, Facilities & Lighthouse Committee will be reviewing the other tower tour dates dates for this summer at a meeting in June and will be making a determination on the remaining scheduled tower climbs for this year.

Notice of the cancellations will be on the Lighthouse website, the Village's Facebook page and Village E-News. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Garlic Mustard Information
Garlic mustard is a European woodland plant introduced to North America by early settlers. Garlic mustard starts growing earlier in the season that native plants in Wisconsin, and out competes them. It also produces large quantities of seed, resulting in it rapidly spreading in wooded areas.

Many of our yards are playing host to garlic mustard. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources recommends hand-pulling at or before the onset of flowering begins. You may also try to control infestations with a 1-2% active ingredient solutions of glyphosate, but beware that this solution will kill other plants too. Apply and use safety measures listed on the product label.

To dispose of garlic mustard place the plants in their own separate sealed garbage bags and place them in your regular garbage cart. If you have more bags than the cart can fit, you can arrange a special pick up with Johns Disposal.

For more information about garlic mustard, please visit the Wisconsin DNR's website.
