JUNE 2020

Hello GRAPE Members,

Thank you, thank you, thank you…..I could not think of anything more appropriate to put at the top of this month’s newsletter. Back in March, I had no idea where we would be by June 1. I am so grateful for all of the work of the committees, the support of the board, the support of the GRAPE members through sponsorships, raffle donations, membership renewals, advertising...and those who have reached out with a nice message!

Like most of you, the last few months have been a blur and I cannot believe that here we are almost at the end of the GRAPE year on June 30. The Gala Committee has done an amazing job in switching gears to an online version of the annual gala fundraiser. The sponsorship support and raffle donations have been amazing and a major lifeline for GRAPE to get through this tough financial time. Be sure to check out the fundraising page for some great items you could win!

Life right now is a wait and see on many things, but know that the staff and committees are still working to plan and think outside the box on how to conduct programming and networking in the coming months. We have communicated a lot of information in the newsletter, and as always feel free to reach out.

With many thanks,

Carol Bartlett

Committee Chair Updates:

ADVOCACY - Committee will start meeting again late summer/early fall to begin planning for the 2021 Legislative Town Hall tentatively scheduled for Friday, February 5, 2021.

ANNUAL GALA - W e are so excited that we have 28 baskets/raffles for our online fundraiser. The web site page is almost completely set and will be opening the raffle on June 1 and closing it June 10. In lieu of our traditional Gala we will hold an online Zoom happy hour and announce the winners of the raffles on June 11. We currently have $11,910 in committed sponsorships and still might have one or two more, but we are incredibly thankful for the amount our members have offered. All this week we will be doing Facebook posts as teasers for the raffle and instructions for the online raffles will also be sent out in the GRAPEvine newsletter.

THE ELDERPAGES DIRECTORY - For a variety of reasons the printed directory will be put on hold until 2021. The committee will be working hard the rest of this year to have the online directory listings updated.

MARKETING - The Marketing Committee is brainstorming alternative ways to have eldercare fairs in the case that we cannot continue to have traditional fairs. We are also brainstorming other ideas for networking opportunities besides zoom meetings.

MEMBERSHIP - Membership renewal for the 2020-2021 GRAPE year is underway. New member orientation in the fall.

PROGRAM- Two successful webinars completed in May, conducting a survey regarding summer programming and options for fall meetings.

SENIOR HOUSING ALLIANCE (SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP) - We had two successful meetings in May that went very well on keeping each other updated on COVID-19 procedures as well as bouncing around ideas on how to keep residents engaged during this time. May 29 was our last meeting of the GRAPE calendar year and we will resume in September.

ALL COMMITTEES ARE ACTIVE AND CURRENTLY MEETING VIA ZOOM.
MOST COMMITTEES WILL TAKE A BREAK FOR THE SUMMER, WITH SOME MEETING AS NEEDED.
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN JOINING A COMMITTEE PLEASE CONTACT THE GRAPE OFFICE OR A COMMITTEE CHAIR - GET INVOLVED
The GRAPE year ends on June 30. You can renew now by using the pay buttons when you login into your GRAPE account. This surely has been a strange and difficult time for our group and we thank all of our members for supporting GRAPE and each other so we can move forward.
