Executive Director Update
Today, almost all businesses across Saskatchewan will be opened. What a great feeling to get everyone back to work and in the trenches again. It is good for the mind, the body and the spirit!

SAW and the WSG are beginning their field season and will be out in about. Delivery of the Canadian Agriculture Program (CAP) and Farm and Water Infrastructure Program (FWRP) headline their programming. If you are looking to complete a farm stewardship project, like seeding marginal soil to forage or developing a water source, such as a well or dugout for livestock, feel free to contact your local watershed stewardship group. They will assist you through the process. You can locate which watershed you live and the watershed contact information by visiting www.saskwatersheds.ca.
Farm Stewardship (FSP) &
Farm and Ranch Water Infrastructure Program (FRWIP)
T he Farm Stewardship Program (FSP) provides Saskatchewan producers funding to implement beneficial management practices (BMPs) in three priority areas – water, climate change and biodiversity.

The FSP focuses on four outcomes:
  • Demonstrated improvements on water quality;
  • Demonstrated reductions in greenhouse gas emissions;
  • Enhanced resilience of the agriculture sector; and
  • Biodiversity maintained.

The Farm and Ranch Water Infrastructure Program (FRWIP) is designed to:
  • Support the development of secure and sustainable water sources for agricultural use in Saskatchewan;
  • Mitigate the impact of drought;
  • Improve public safety; and
  • Reduce potential groundwater contamination through well decommissioning.

FSP and FRWIP are delivered by various watersheds across Saskatchewan. Funding for the program is provided by the federal and provincial governments’ Canadian Agricultural Partnership.
