Smith School Newsletter
Sept 10, 2020
Welcome to a New School Year!
September 14th is the first school day for all students - both remote and in-person. Regardless of the format, our staff is committed to ensuring quality instruction and learning for all students. Our staff has been busily preparing and are excited to get underway. With that in mind, a few reminders:
Information for Remote Learners

If you have not yet picked up your child's Chromebook, you may do so 8am - 4pm at the District Transportation Office. Log on and care instructions are included with the device.

Your child's teacher has sent you information about logging on, daily schedules and expectations for daily participation and work completion.

Remote teachers are also preparing packets of traditional school supplies that will be needed while working from home. These will be delivered to your home.

Please make sure that we have an active email account and phone number on file for you. This will allow us to easily contact you with additional information and updates as needed.
Information for In-Person Learners
You must have the in-person learning compact completed and on file for your child to attend school. Daily health screening needs to occur at home each morning.

Our doors open for students at 8:30 am. Please do not arrive prior to that time.

Please make sure your child wears the name tag that was sent home with the teacher welcome letter. This will help us to quickly get students to the correct classroom.

Walkers and parent drop-offs will enter the building through the Wheeler Ave door.

Bus students will enter through the main entrance.

Masks are required to enter.

All students will have a temperature screening at the door.

Students will go directly to their classroom.

Dismissal Information:
3:00 pm Gr. 3 Walkers and parent pick-ups (Wheeler Ave)
3:05 pm Gr. 4 Walkers and parent pick-ups (Wheeler Ave)
3:15 pm Bus students will be called as routes arrive
Mask Etiquette
Students and staff are required to wear masks throughout the day. Teachers will schedule periodic mask breaks throughout the day. Masks should cover both the mouth and nose. Please put your child's name on his/her mask. Practice wearing masks at home for extended periods of time to prepare your child for wearing a mask at school.
Specific routing information will come directly from the District transportation office. Please keep in mind that we have limited seating capacity on buses due to social distancing requirements. Your child must have a verified seat on the bus in order to ride the bus. Daily bus changes that have not been previously arranged for childcare purposes can not be accommodated.
