Hiring Head Start began as a result of hearing from many employers and partners about the issues they are having with hiring—things like people not showing up to hiring fairs and candidates applying for jobs and getting interviews scheduled but very few actually attending the interviews.
Opportunity Stanislaus received data explaining that workers that used to make $15 an hour now make approximately $34.22 an hour (for a family of four with two kids) with stimuluses, unemployment income/bonuses and tax refunds averaged out until September 6 when unemployment bonuses are scheduled to expire.
In our county, September 6 is too late for a lot of our industries. For many manufacturers, their season is just ramping up, and not having enough talent could mean the difference between a successful season or even the end of a business. Hiring Head Start was created to try to intervene on this disruption and to get Investors and partners the talent they need... now.
