JUNE 2021
Assemblymember Alex Lee, who represents District 25, stopped by to deliver Meals on Wheels to LIFE clients last week
LIFE ElderCare is now fully open and resuming in-person services for vaccinated clients!

Here are some key program changes:

  • We are excited to share that we have restarted Assisted Rides to help seniors get to the doctor, do their shopping & more; check out this great article in Tri-City Voice
  • Meals on Wheels - meals are being delivered to the door or dropped off inside for clients, if needed
  • Fall Prevention services are now being provided mostly in-person with some remote / hybrid options for clients who are not fully vaccinated
  • Friendly Visitor volunteer / client pairs who are vaccinated can now resume in-person visits
  • Our Care Coordination team is starting up in-person home visits and client assessments as needed

We are looking for volunteers to help us as we transition our programs. We need drivers for both Assisted Rides (all Alameda County) and Meals on Wheels (Tri-City only) as well as Friendly Visitors. To learn more or sign up, please call 510-894-0370, email us, or sign up online.
The reopening is even more meaningful because June is also a time to celebrate the incredible diversity of the LIFE family - our clients, staff, volunteers, partners, and supporters.

As always, we stand in solidarity with people of color, those who are LGBTQ+, our AAPI friends, and everyone who continues to advocate for equality and justice and against hatred and violence.
We were honored to resume our in-person events with a table at City of Hayward's Juneteenth Celebration! It was a sweet, mellow event filled with people who were happy to be out and about again and just excited to celebrate the incredible significance of June 19th - our newest national holiday!

As things normalize, we look forward to being out in the community again so we can continue to raise awareness of LIFE ElderCare and reach new clients and volunteers!
