Investments in Economic Future, but Little Immediate Business Relief 

During the recent legislative session, there were important advocacy wins for Vermont businesses and historic investments in Vermont’s child care, broadband, and housing, but little immediate relief provided for recovering businesses.

Tourism & Hospitality Worker Vaccine Clinics

In partnership with the Vermont Chamber and Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing, the Vermont Department of Health started hosting walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinics for restaurant, hospitality, and tourism workers in May. Clinics will be staged at restaurants, lodges, ski resorts, and tourism attractions to bring the vaccine directly to workers of this sector.

Vermont Futures Project Survey

The Vermont Futures Project is once again teaming up with the University of Vermont's Center for Research on Vermont to conduct a survey about our state’s newest residents. The survey is aimed at people who moved to Vermont in the last 12 months and are considering making Vermont their permanent home.

Grow Your Workforce at Our 2021 Manufacturing Summit

To help address the workforce labor shortage and skills gap in manufacturing, at our 2021 Manufacturing Summit the Vermont Chamber is partnering with Vermont Technical College and the University of Vermont College of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences to match students and soon-to-be-graduates in advanced manufacturing and engineering with participating employers.

VHFA Mortgage Assistance Program Reopens

Our member Vermont Housing Finance Agency is accepting applications from Vermont homeowners who are behind on mortgage payments due to the pandemic. This latest round of program funding provides grants for up to 12 months of past-due mortgage and property tax payments for eligible Vermont homeowners.
Registration is open for a hybrid celebration of the Best Places to Work in Vermont on June 10. Small, medium, and large companies across Vermont will be honored.

GlobalFoundries and Beta Technologies Highlighted for Innovative Work

Our Vice President of Business Development Chris Carrigan spoke to VTDigger about Vermont’s future as a hub of innovation — particularly in wireless technology and electric aircraft. The report highlighted the innovative work underway by our members GlobalFoundries and Beta Technologies.
