It is our pleasure to introduce Meeting Coordinators, Inc.'s summer intern, Lillian Swanson. Lilly will be working on marketing and social media promotion for several of MCI's clients.

Lilly has grown up in the hospitality industry. Watching her father run the Somerset Inn, she also found a passion for hospitality and is very excited to learn the ins and outs of event coordinating! Her career goal is to one day own her own business within the hotels and dining industry.

Success is a Choice by Rick Pitino is my go-to book for new leaders. I know that Coach Pitino has had some drama lately. But his book is absolutely awesome for a young professional to read. I have personally given out at least 25 copies of this book. I don’t think that I’ve ever gotten one back so hopefully they are still being read and passed on to new leaders … I can only hope! Coach Pitino says right off the bat that “Success is not a lucky break. It is not a divine right. It is not an accident of birth. Success is a choice!”

No More Whining...Unless...
New Michigan COVID-19 rules were established last month which lessened the restrictive mask wearing requirements. With so many of us now fullly vaccinated, we can resume some of the social interactions we have missed over the last year and a half. That’s why I was so excited to see on my calendar that May 25th was National Wine Day. I enjoy wine but I did not know there was a National Wine Day! Blame it on the pandemic lockdown that I noticed the holiday on my calendar in very small print. Typically, my calendar would have been filled with so many more appointments that National Wine Day would have gone unnoticed. This awareness now required more research. Google has now informed me that there are dozens of international wine holidays, giving one the excuse to celebrate year-round.
This got me to thinking. If we have national wine days, what about other beverages? Once again, with serious Google research, I found a new list of drinkable dates to celebrate. I was pleased to see that not all drinks were alcoholic. On June 1st you could have been enjoying World Milk Day. Going forward you can sip your favorite iced tea on June 10th with two more of my favorites coming up on June 20th for us to indulge in a vanilla milkshake or an ice cream soda. So much to celebrate as we resume social gatherings!
Since I know many of you are now marking your own calendars with these celebratory days let me give you some future dates to also consider. July …. Yes, the entire month is National Ice Cream Month.
This July Meeting Coordinators, Inc. will be celebrating our 33rd year in business. I think it calls for an Ice Cream Social staff event. Now I cannot wait for July to get here!
In the meantime, here are the latest MIOSHA updates:
