Dear Residents & Community Members,
The Fourth of July is upon us and once again we are reminded of the freedoms and privileges we are blessed to enjoy in this country. Let us never forget: There is no place like the U.S.A.!
After a year of social pause, it is extremely encouraging to see the return of many of our community events in a safe, fun manner! It was heartwarming to see so many of our residents and community members at our recent Food Truck Festival, enjoying the many delicacies of the day and phenomenal live music! The event was a great success with close to 5,000 people in attendance over the course of the 8-hour event. We were pleased to show our support for the Community Foundation of Orange & Sullivan at this event, raising over $2,000 to assist in their mission of "Connecting People Who Care With Causes That Matter." Special thanks to those that attended, our employees and volunteers who worked the event, as well as our local emergency services agencies who were instrumental in maintaining a safe environment. Save the date for the next Food Truck Festival taking place on Saturday, October 16th. Additional details will follow in the coming months.
We hope to see you all at the Village of Monroe Fourth of July Fireworks celebration on Friday, July 2nd at 9 p.m., sponsored by the Town of Monroe and Village of Harriman.

Town of Monroe Recognizes Eagle Scout Achievements | |

The Town of Monroe congratulates Shravan Ranganathan, Matthew Cerillo, and Rahul Raja on their recent Eagle Scout achievement. A ceremony was held on Sunday, June 6th at American Legion Post 488 honoring their project accomplishments which included:
Shravan Ranganathan
Shravan's Eagle Scout project benefited the Monroe Volunteer Ambulance Corp. where he served in their youth squad. He constructed a new retaining wall around the existing flag poles in front of the MOVAC building entrance which included new landscaping and plantings. Additionally, he landscaped an area of the MOVAC property near the parking lot entrance, along Ramapo Street, which included the installation of new plants and trees to beautify the grounds.
Matthew Cerillo
Matthew's Eagle Scout project benefited Pine Tree Elementary School, where he attended years earlier. He installed several benches in the rear of the school surrounding a peace pole, which he installed in the center for students and teachers to use as an area for outdoor learning and/or reflection. A peace pole is a large pole which has the word “PEACE” written on it in numerous languages. Additionally, Matthew constructed a rock walkway connecting the peace pole reflection seating area to the entrance of the Pine Tree School Garden Club gardening area.
Rahul Raja
Rahul's Eagle Scout project benefited Sapphire Elementary School, where he attended years earlier. He designed and constructed three picnic tables and two benches which were placed around the school in the playground areas to be used by the students of Sapphire Elementary School.

Rick Golden of Burke, Miele, Golden & Naughton, LLP was recently honored at the 2021 Orange County Partnership's Most Valuable Partner Breakfast. The Most Valuable Partner (MVP) Award is presented to an individual or organization that has gone above and beyond the call of duty to improve the economic strength and diversity of Orange County.
The Town of Monroe congratulates Rick and his firm, which Town of Monroe Planning Board Attorney, Ashley Torre, is also a part of, on this prestigious award.
