Spring is in its full glory, and the golf course looks and is in incredible shape. The grass has greened up nicely and the greens have responded well. However, the grass is now actively growing and the mowers are regularly scheduled to keep the turfgrass in premier condition. We currently have excellent green speeds, in excess of eleven feet and we should be able to keep them well-groomed at these speeds throughout the summer. Doug and I have started our weekly review of driving the course and working on the details of this world-class golf facility. Please do your part: Fill divots with sand, repair ball marks, rake bunkers, obey cart signs, keep your cart on the path on all par threes and next to every tee and green. The more you do, the better the course is for all of our Members.
As I mentioned last month, I would like to welcome our new Club Accountant, Jenell Konobeck. Jenell hails from Minneapolis, MN, where she has a brave daughter serving in law enforcement. She has an extensive background in accounting and has worked in the private country club setting at two different clubs in her career. If you get a chance, stop by the Club to give her a warm welcome. The process of learning and becoming proficient with this accounting software and procedures is arduous and time-consuming. Please be patient with her as she works her way through this transition. I have tremendous faith in her abilities.
Golf Operations are now in full swing, and thus far, we have had good participation from the Members with our events. If you haven’t had a chance to visit the golf shop, I certainly encourage you to do so. We are carrying some fantastic lines of apparel as well as the latest and greatest clubs. We will be featuring demo days from the major golf club manufacturers. Please pay close attention to these dates to make sure you have the best equipment. The Men’s and Ladies’ leagues are in full swing. If you did not sign up for league but would still like to participate from time to time, we are always looking for a few subs. Good luck to all league participants. As always, we are pairing up with the HOA to have a Fourth of July celebration here at the Club.
This year we have had an aggressive push with membership sales with our Membership Director, Jeremy Heizelman. We have already enjoyed significant success and expect to do even better in July. Jeremy also oversees a lot of the Rec Center operation for the Club. PLEASE NOTE: Now that the pool has opened, for safety reasons, we have locked the doors to the fitness center so as to keep children away from the weights, weight machines and aerobic machines. Please bring your key fobs with you whenever you want to work out. If you do not have a key fob, Linda Church, our bookkeeper, can make one for you in a matter of minutes. REMEMBER: The lifeguards are in charge at the pool and have full authority to enforce those rules. We definitely want to make sure everyone is safe!
The Patio has now been open for several weeks. Please be patient with a lot of seasonal servers as they continue to learn. Josh, Tammi, Al and Jimmy do a great job of training these employees, but like everything else, it takes practice before they become really proficient.
Congratulations to our Clubhouse Maintenance staff led by Tom Duffy. May is always a very challenging month for them. The tasks associated with preparing for and opening the pool as well as the patio is extremely difficult. Tom is a great guy and a phenomenal employee. If you see him around the club, please take a moment to pat him on the back.
I am very proud to be your General Manager, and if you ever want to chat about anything, please give me a call or stop by the Club. I am here for you.
