The SGP Foundation Inc earns a GuideStarUSA 2021 Silver Seal of Transparency

Printing Industries of New England (PINE) has joins the SGP community as a Resource Partner
“PINE is committed to educating and encouraging its members to move closer to a more sustainable future,” said Christine Hagopian, PINE president. “Time is of the essence regarding the quality of the environment. By becoming a Resource Partner, we feel strongly that our alignment will help educate and assist in achieving a more sustainable supply chain."

Smyth's fourth facility receives SGP certification
Smyth Companies has achieved SGP certification at its fourth facility. Smyth Minneapolis MN, joins the company’s other certified facilities located in Bedford VA, Boston MA and most recently Austin MN.
“With this fourth certification Smyth is positioning itself as an expert of sustainability in the printing industry,” said Marci Kinter, SGP co-founder, Executive Committee and PRINTING United Alliance representative. “There’s work to be done in the industry as a whole, and with leaders like Smyth, we’re seeing the real progress that can be achieved.” Read more

Emmerson Packaging in Amherst, Nova Scotia won Honorable Mention for Innovations in Sustainability in the 2021 FTA Sustainability Excellence Awards for utilizing food waste through starch packaging. Emmerson Packaging partnered with BiologiQ and utilized its NuPlastiQ product to reduce the amount of virgin polyethylene in packaging by repurposing starch byproduct. READ MORE

SGP looking for beta sites
In April 2021, SGP announced a pilot project to expand its certification program beyond North America. As SGP has been successfully holding all audits virtually for more than a year. SGP will test this method to n expand internationally, allowing printers and industry suppliers worldwide to achieve SGP certification. Read more
