Dear Friends of the BABC Northern California,
I hope you are all well and enjoying the start of summer. As we approach June 15th and the lifting of tier restrictions we are starting to feel very optimistic about the remainder of the year, so much so that we are planning for our first in-person event in almost 18 months! Subject to whatever requirements must be met with regards to vaccinations, attendance limits, etc. Please mark your calendars for a July 15th event at Werqwise in San Francisco. If you feel comfortable, please do come along. We will look forward to seeing you!
Also upcoming on June 30th, we have our Annual General Meeting. As we did last year we will hold this via Zoom and will kick things off with some networking followed by a review of our activities for the past year. We shall also be holding the annual election of directors. BABC Members’ primary representatives are requested to participate in the election and you will shortly receive a link to the Ballot where you can cast your vote. Our By-Laws require that we achieve a quorum of 51% of members voting so please be on the lookout for that email from our Executive Director, Jo Healey, and follow the link to the DocuSign ballot and proxy letter. It only takes a minute to vote.
Earlier today we held our bi-monthly Coffee Connects event on Zoom. These gatherings are an excellent opportunity to meet new people and create meaningful personal and professional relationships at the BABC Zoom Cafe! Consider this a Power Hour to extend your network and get the help you need! You'll have the opportunity to move between one room and another to meet with different people exchange ideas and contact details. If you were unable to join us today please come along to our next get together in August.
I’m also very much hoping many of you will be able to attend the British Benevolent Society’s Mid-Summer’s Eve Celebration this coming Saturday. By all accounts, this outdoor gathering at Ark Row in Tiburon will be a lot of fun showcasing British goods, Scottish bagpipers and dancers, and a Jazz Quartet to boot. It is free to attend – food and beverages are available for purchase.

Every month, we host a fun casual networking happy hour designed to bring our community together in a relaxed and jovial environment (cocktail in-hand!) to connect with others and learn something new.
Additionally, each month we aim to feature a member for a 10-15 minute lightning talk on their organization/company or interesting topic, followed by smaller, intimate breakout rooms to get to know one another better.

2021 Q1 sees return of investor confidence as UK growth capital fundraising hits 10 year high.
