Covid has left it’s mark. Temporary substitute processes and procedures have become permanent. Some practices eliminated. For sure change occurred and has made an impact on most. Some changes observed: Working at Home is no longer a novelty, for some businesses the “work at home” movement has changed the way they operate their business. Operations Technology in all aspects of operations has appeared. Work from home means electronic information access. Sharing database, transactional records to operating software. Monitoring allows scrutiny of individual performance. The positive results include increased productivity, better accountability, improved time management, and savings for employees and owners in logistics costs such as clothing, meals and reduced travel. Demand Increased for Better On-Line Consumer Experiences beyond researching, arranging for pick up
and delivery of fast food, groceries, clothes, equipment, even vehicles. The change in customer needs and expectations increased change in “last-mile delivery
services.” Click and order is the name of the game, especially where brick and mortar businesses closed up shop. Increased On-Line Learning includes improved online instruction via electronic media with instructors communicating live one on one and one to many. Testing and certification also has a new look. Health Care’s online component has Doctors and Nurses using electronic tools to “SEE” patients, “feedback by screen.” Are all the changes for the better? Time will tell.
