Summer is here! It’s a great feeling to know that everything is open and the mandates have been lifted to enjoy your summer without restrictions. It has been a tough year and a half, but now is the time to relax, enjoy the warm weather, take some deep breaths, and spend time outdoors doing the things you love.
Our Chamber sign is up! Come on down and say hello. We’ve been at our new location here on 11 Richmond Street for 5 months now and it’s great. We didn’t miss a beat.
We have lots of activities going on, like our Annual Canoe Race which will take place on August 1st. Stay tuned for more information about the event which will come out soon.
The Nautical Mile Annual Festival was held on June 12th, and it was wonderful to see all the activity on the mile. There were around 30 vendors who participated.
The L.I. Arts Council of Freeport hosted a spectacular presentation of Romeo & Juliet down at Waterfront Park on Father’s Day. It was a huge success. They will have bands playing music again at the Esplanade every Thursday evening, so come on down and enjoy the music.
Our membership is growing and it’s so wonderful to see businesses open and prosper even during challenging times.
Congratulations and a big welcome to our newest members, Caribbean Island Restaurant & Bar, Howard Colton, Attorney at Law, Mad Greek Express LLC, Michele’s Pet Sitting, Petrocelli Group Inc. Puerto Plata Fish Market, Broadway Auto & Towing Inc. and New York Electrical Design Inc.
We had a great luncheon this month where Legislature Steve Rhoads gave a presentation on how the funding from COVID relief was being distributed and it was followed up by an open meeting with Steve on June 22nd at the Seafood Grill Restaurant. All those who attended found it informative and
were grateful to be able to voice their concerns and opinions.
Our condolences and sympathy are extended to a father of one of our long-time members who passed away as well as our 3rd Vice President’s mother. It is always difficult to hear this news about the people who are near and dear to our hearts.
Our next luncheon is scheduled for July 13th at Hibiscus on the Mile. Our speaker will be Randy Milteer, who will be presenting on the importance of Public Relations for your business. An invitation will be sent out shortly.
The Freeport Chamber is mentoring and bringing in one young person to every luncheon to build confidence and help them in the community. If you know of a high school student who would benefit from this program, please connect us at the Chamber, so we can invite him or her.
Fireworks are scheduled for July 1st, down by Sea Breeze Park, so come on down and celebrate. This year we have much to be grateful for.

Have a Happy & Safe July 4th.
