Summer Reading Program 2022

Our program is available June 1 through August 29.


We have options for all ages: 

Toddlers and Preschoolers : Bookworms Summer Reading

  • Pick up a Read Beyond the Beaten Path Reading and Activity Log for your child to track their progress. Be sure to record all hours/books in Beanstack as well.
  • Read 11 books and complete four activities with your child and earn tickets for a chance to win a grand prize basket filled with books and goodies handpicked by your Westwood Librarians!
  • Upon completion, earn a free book from the FOL Book Nook!

Kids in Grades K-6 : Summer Reading Program (books or hours)

  • For every hour or book read, earn a raffle ticket toward the Summer Reading prize baskets.
  • Pick up a Read Beyond the Beaten Path Reading Log for your child to track their reading on. Be sure to record all hours/books in Beanstack as well.
  • Read for 25 hours and earn a free book from the FOL Book Nook. Read for 50 hours and earn a Summer Reading Champion Lawn Sign.

Teens in Grade 6-12 : Teen Summer Reading Program

  • Track the books you read, write reviews and complete activity challenges to earn raffle tickets for the Summer Reading prize baskets.
  • Pick up a Teen Reading Log to help track your reading and activities before logging them on Beanstack.
  • Read 10 books and earn 10 other badges on Beanstack to officially complete the Summer Reading program and get bonus raffle tickets.

Toddler Jam with Sarah Gardner (Registration Required)

Toddlers and preschoolers can join Sarah Gardner to jam out, sing, and dance in this fun, upbeat class! 

LEGO Builders

Short Wednesdays @ 2-4

Main Library; June 8 and 22



Drop in at the Library to build to your heart's content with our LEGOs! This is a drop-in program, children under 9 must be accompanied by a caregiver.

Cover to Cover Book Club

Wednesday June 8 @ 1:45pm Conference Room, Main Library


Join Felicia on an Early Release Wednesday at the library for snacks and discussion of the book of the month! In June, we are reading The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang. Open to grades 6 - 12.

YAB (Youth Advisory Board)

Wednesday, June 15 @ 6:30pm,

Main Library


Join us on the second Wednesday of the month to help to revamp the Teen Department at the Westwood Public Library! Typical volunteering activities may include: adopt-a-shelf program, assisting with special projects and producing materials for library programs, and special events.

Throughout the month of June, the Youth Services Staff will be in and out of the library visiting classes at all 5 elementary schools as well as Thurston Middle School to talk about our Summer Reading program and our favorite books of the year. Ask your child if they had a visitor from the library and don't forget to sign up for Summer Reading on Beanstack

Juneteenth Resources for Families


Juneteenth is celebrated on Sunday, June 19th. Visit the library for stories of Black history and Black joy. 

And make sure to check out our all-ages Juneteenth display in the Main Library throughout the month.
