ADEPT Reminders
ADEPT Evaluation Results Due June 20
Regulation 43-205.1 states that evaluation results must be reported to the South Carolina Department of Education by June 20th. Certificate advancement, enrollment in alternative route preparation programs, and certificate extension are often dependent on data reported by your district; ensure reporting is complete before the deadline. Evaluation Results include Final Evaluation Ratings and Recommendations for Next Year.

SLOs
In 2021, the OEELD received approval from the State Board of Education for the use of a Teacher Leadership Goal alongside or in place of the SLO. We want to ensure that more districts have the resources needed to take advantage of this option for teacher leaders for the 2022-23 school year.
  • A Teacher Leadership Goal is appropriate when a teacher wants to incorporate reflection on leadership into his or her PGDP.
  • A Teacher Leadership Goal is an appropriate substitute for the SLO in two cases:
  •  When a teacher is accountable for the growth of other teachers (e.g. serving as a cooperating teacher, mentor, coach, or hybrid teacher leader), or
  • When the teacher is seeking advanced certification or recognition of classroom expertise (e.g. attempting National Board).

Support resources for the Teacher Leadership Goal can be found with additional SLO resources on the SLO webpage. For SLO questions or support, reach out to your ADEPT regional contact or our SLO Coordinator, Rodney Evans, revans@ed.sc.gov.
