National Rendezvous & Living History Foundation
45th Eastern Primitive Rendezvous
September 23 - Oct 1, 2022

From The Chairman
Being not only the Chairman of the Board but also the Delegate In Charge for the 2022 Northeastern Primitive Rendezvous it is with a heavy heart that I report the NEPR has been cancelled due to extremely high costs and very limited pre-registrations.

The land rental is $1200.00, Hooter rental is $3800.00, Medallions are $639.00, firewood ice, water and trash removal is $2000.00, range competitions amount to $1400.00, all of it totaling $9039.00 and none of this includes all the supplementary expenses such as supplies, signage, other competition events, Gatebook printing, land preparation, mandated archery target replacement, etc. etc. etc.

We based our decision upon the fact that with 10 days left before the pre-registration cutoff, there were only 48 participants registered at a total of $2880.00 and we were looking at over $9000.00 (set in stone) in expenses leaving an up-front deficit of over $6000.00 Therefore the Board unanimously voted to cancel this year's event and refund all current pre-registration fees.
From The Board
Last year gate registered walk-ins at the NEPR totaled 17 and pre-registered participants totaled 73 equaling a total of 90 participants. From this number we had to deduct 15 participants who did not show up and requested refunds thus leaving a total of 75 who participated in the event. Of these, 58 were pre-registered for a total of $3480.00 and 17 were registered at the gate for a total of $1155.00 thus having a combined income of $4635.00 and a subsequent loss of revenue.

To make it simple, the Foundation cannot continue taking losses or even breaking even because we have expenses every year that have to be paid. The largest of these expenses is insurance and with operating expenses it combines to be nearly $5000.00 per year. We reduced one expense of $13,000.00 by simply removing one paid position and changing it to a voluntary position. We have internet expenses, meeting expenses, printing expenses, telephone and office expenses, tax preparation, bank fees, etc. etc. etc. These expenses are due whether we make money or lose money. All of our funds go to pay the bills. There are "NO" paid positions within the entirety of the Foundation.

Two years of no income cost us nearly $36,000.00 and we narrowly escaped going under. With adjustments in management style, business plan and many more modifications made by the Council of Delegates, we see light at the end of the tunnel. So far this year you may have noticed some changes in practices that have taken place and we ask that everyone have patience as we undergo more changes and start to move forward and restore our success with future events. With the COD, SEPR and ONW now completed we have a combined profit of more than $7000.00 and are moving in a very positive direction. Good things are on the horizon.

Win A Pre-registration
DO YOU WANT TO WIN A FREE PRE-REGISTRATION TO A FUTURE FOUNDATION EVENT 2022-2023?
Everyone who pre-registers for any of the NRLHF events will be automatically entered into a drawing for one of two free pre-registrations to a future NRLHF event until expiration December 31, 2023. Each certificate will be embossed with the NRLHF Stamp to prevent duplication and will be awarded at the Opening Ceremony of each event. You don't need to do anything but pre-register. There will be 2 chances for each of the events making a total of 10 possible chances. Pre-registration helps us to determine the amount of participants and reduce unnecessary expenses due to "GUESSING" how many will be in attendance. Get those pre-registrations in the mail or thru PayPal. The PayPal Shopping Cart is https://nrlhf.org/cart.html.

Campfire Recipes
From Gary Flegel
Old Northwest Territory Primitive Rendezvous
"The Old Northwest Territory Primitive Rendezvous took place at Hidden Hollow Camp in Lodi, Ohio from June 17th to the 24th. The weather for the most part was fabulous! There was only a little rain one morning that lasted around 30 minutes. An hour later you didn't even know it rained. To be fair, it was a small camp, but it was an awesome camp! Good people can make a small camp tremendous. Remember, it's not always quantity; It is the quality! A great time was had by everyone that attended. The competitions went off without a hitch, and the fellowship was displayed throughout the entire week. From the camp meetings, to the potluck supper and the French Toast breakfast, it was like camping with a big happy family!
I would like to thank the staff that worked very hard to put on an excellent event, as well as all the folks that spent the week with us. Please tell your rendezvous friends that if they want to attend a top notch event next year, to look no further than the Old Northwest Territory Primitive Rendezvous."
