Mental Health Services will be Provided to NOLA Public School Students for the Next 3 Years!
This is all thanks to $10M in funding from the City of New Orleans to Children's Hospital New Orleans' ThriveKids program. This partnership aims to improve the overall well-being of our city’s youth, with a particular focus on mental health care and violence prevention.
Launching in the fall, the collaboration will establish a system of support within the school environment, offering direct clinical services, care management, and multidisciplinary expertise from a team of more than 30 mental health and medical professionals.
The initiative seeks to address the challenges faced by our scholars, such as mental illness, violence, depression, anxiety, and food and housing insecurity, aiming to bridge the gap between education and healthcare.
By removing barriers to care and coordinating resources, the program aims to enhance pediatric outcomes and create a long-term, centralized support system across all our NOLA Public Schools campuses. This partnership signifies a significant step towards providing equitable resources and care to our scholars, ultimately fostering their academic success and overall well-being.
