Successful Spring Open House

Thank you to everyone who visited and helped host our springtime open house at Narragansett High School on May 18th!

We welcomed nearly 40 families from across RI. It was wonderful to welcome current and potential future students into NHS for a look at all of our programs and student experience.

Thundermist Partnership Update

Summers can be a great time to relax and recharge for many of us. However, for some students the loss of everyday routines or access to their circle of friends and supports can be challenging.

Other students may experience anxiety related to their upcoming transition to middle or high school.

We are proud to be partnering with Thundermist Health Center to support the mental well-being of our students. Counseling and assessment services from Thundermist are available throughout the summer to all upcoming Narragansett Pier and High school students.

For more information or to set up an appointment, contact Community Health Worker Emma Brighton either via email at: [email protected] or telephone: 401-450-2979.

NPS Mariner Sports News!

Our spring NPS teams enjoyed the outdoors this year. The softball team competed in a rough league this season while the baseball team qualified for the playoffs again.

The Girls Track and Field team placed 6th in the RI State Tournament led by two-time State Champion, Reagan Farrell. She won the Long Jump with a 15 feet leap and then won the 80-meter hurdles in a stunning 13.19 seconds. The girls 100-meter relay team was second in the state with the work of Reagan Farrell, Julia Donadio, Rihanna Dunn, and Maya Kaufman.

The medals kept coming with Julia Donadio placing 6th in the 100-meter dash. Maya Kaufman placed 9th in the 400-meter dash. Ava Francis laid the groundwork for next year as she did well in the discus and shot put.

For the boys Track and Field team, James McCarthy placed 3rd in the state at 800 meters and the boys Relay placed 7th with Ryan Sylvestre, Austin Sahagian, Bruce Price, Liev Russo. Austin Sahagian, Dolan McQuarrie, Liev Russo, and Kieran Williams had a good showing in the field events.

ALL NPS Student Athletes are invited to the Boosters Club Ice Cream Social and Awards night, Tuesday, June 13 in the Café. Ice Cream serving begins at 5:30pm and awards start at 6pm. Be sure to have all uniforms turned in prior to the event.

During their recent drive, NPS students and staff assembled 120 “We Care Kits” during advisory classes.

These amazing donations will be sent to the Johnny Cake Center and the Welcome House.

NPS students and staff care about our local communities and couldn't make this kind of impact without the help of our school families! Thank you to all who donated and participated.

Veterans Visit NHS to Help Commemorate Memorial Day

This past Friday, May 26th, a group of Veterans paid a visit to Narragansett High School for an in-school field trip with several history classes.

They spoke to students about their experiences, their history of service, and why Memorial Day is incredibly important to celebrate while remembering the sacrifice so many men and women have given.

Thank you to those who spent the morning with us!

Students Receive Honor for C-SPAN Documentary

Congratulations to NHS students Alex Greenberg, Connor Haring, and Patrick Sabatino, who were honored on May 15th with an Honorable Mention for their C-SPAN StudentCam Documentary entitled "A Plastic Bay."

C-SPAN received documentaries from almost 3,000 students representing 40 states and Washington, D.C., Kenya, and the UAE.

Students were asked to create a 5-6 minute long video imagining they were a newly elected member of Congress and sharing the issue that would be their first priority to address and why.
