June is here and kids are getting out of school, families will be moving and activities will be happening. Make sure you support Lisle by visiting the shops and restaurants and support our community with our Chamber events. Lisle Uncorked, A Wine Event is a popular event taking place June 17th at the Museums at Lisle Station Park. Please get your tickets ahead of time for pre-sale ticket prices. For event information and to purchase your tickets visit www.lislechamber.com.
The Chamber also has the Annual Golf Outing taking place on July 18th at Seven Bridges Golf Club. Register your foursome or an individual golfer today to take advantage of the early bird pricing. Visit the Chamber’s website to learn more about the event and register your golfers. Sponsorships are still available, contact the Chamber with any questions.
The Lisle French Market is an open-air market that runs on Saturdays from May 6th through October 14th from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vendors change weekly so visit often. It is located behind our Downtown Main Street next to PrairieWalk Pond. There is ample parking in the Garfield parking lot. Father’s Day is June 19th. A great idea would be to treat him out to a dinner in Lisle and pick him up a gift from one of our Lisle shops. The Illinois Chamber is hosting the 6th Annual Illinois Women’s Conference on June 21st. It will be taking place at NIU Center Ballroom in Naperville. Click here for more information.

AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT
Ellen Gorrell
Ellen Gorrell of The Gorrell Team –Baird & Warner is this month’s featured Ambassador. Ellen is in her second year of belonging to the Lisle Area Chamber with her business. She also belongs to the Chamber’s LINCT Committee. Although Ellen is a rather new Ambassador, she truly enjoys the connections she is making with all the members. She truly believes in the Chamber and enjoys meeting all different types of businesses that her give her ideas for things she could use for her own business and she always tries to support fellow Chamber members. Ellen feels that the Chamber is very supportive, philanthropic, and a close-knit group of local businesses working collaboratively to build relationships with each other as well as the Community.
Ellen and her husband Tom are real estate brokers at Baird & Warner Real Estate, The Gorrell Team. They have been serving the Western Suburbs for over 21 years as realtors. They love helping people achieve their dream of home ownership. They pride themselves on their dedication, professionalism, expertise, and compassion as they walk their clients through the process smoothly and seamlessly. Their client’s best interests are always their #1 priority. They make it easier! Ellen is also a mentor/coach of the new real estate agents in their office. She truly has a passion for this aspect of real estate as she guides these new agents to build their business! When “new to the business” agents join their office, it can be quite overwhelming at first. So, her office created a mentoring coaching pilot program so as to not let the new agents “fall through the cracks”. Ellen is so proud to be a part of that as it is greatly rewarding watching these new agents get business and do transactions. This is the perfect role for Ellen as her nurturing nature allows her to understand and relate to their challenges and create a safe and supportive environment in which they can learn and grown into great real estate agents! Ellen is also a recent member of the Kiwanis Club of Lisle.
Ellen and her husband Tom have raised their 3 sons, Ryan who is currently 31 years old and their 2 twins Jordan and Connor who are 30 years old, in the close-knit community of Westchester and that is where she got her start in real estate. When her sons graduated college, Ellen and Tom relocated to Lisle and that is when they joined Baird & Warner in Naperville. Ellen also has an almost 12-year-old granddaughter Payton and she is their Angel Girl! Ellen and Tom live in a Lisle with their two cats, Mr. Meowser and Jack Black. Ellen loves spending time with her children and their significant others and offspring. She also loves spending time at the Lisle Park District and sponsoring events for the community, enjoying the delicious cuisine of the local restaurants, going to listen to live music and rock concerts, and walking in the Morton Arboretum (her happy place). Ellen’s favorite quotes are “The only way to do great work is to love what you do!” and “If You’re Buyin’ or Sellin’ Call Tom and Ellen!”.

Unveiling Ceremony for Lisle Hometown Heros Window Mural at the
Lisle Library District

The Lisle Warhol Committee unveiled the 4 winners of the Warhol Clings at the Lisle Library on May 20th. The 4 hometown heros that were chosen were Joy Morton, Martha Schiesher, Carlin
Nalley & Hank Van Kampen.
Lisle residents and COD/Warhol exhibit visitors alike can participate in the Village-wide program for discounts at local businesses, by taking a selfie at the Library’s Hometown Heroes window mural and showing the selfie at a participating business for a corresponding discount!

This award-winning site serves as a beautiful back drop to this colorful, open-air market that runs on Saturdays from May 6 through October 14, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Vendors change weekly, so each market is a unique experience. Free parking is available in the Garfield Parking Lot, Main Street and the Commuter Parking Lots off of Burlington Avenue. There is no admission charge, so bring the whole family; service animals and pets in carriers are welcome. Diverse offerings include:

Many amazing scholarship applications were submitted and the Scholarship Committee had hard decisions to make. Every year the students that submit scholarship application are outstanding. Congratulations to our scholarship winners, Tyler Anderson, Lisle High School, Brooke Thompson, Lisle High School and Lauryn Wilson, Downers Grove South High School. Thank you to our dedicated Scholarship Committee, Chair, Dr. Peter James, College of DuPage, Tom Reif, The Alera Group, Denise Petty, St. Joan of Arc, Lyuda Berkoff, Universal Technical Institute, and Jon Pratscher, Lisle Park District.
It was a beautiful sunny day in Lisle at the Unveiling Ceremony for the Lisle Hometown Heros Window Mural held at the Lisle Library District. It was interesting to learn more about each of the selected Hometown Heros from their family and friends. Please visit the newly renovated Library to get a selfie in front of the mural. The mural is located on the South Side entrance to the Library. This Andy Warhol pop art inspired mural is in conjunction with the Andy Warhol exhibit at the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage which will be taking place all summer long. The Lisle Warhol Committee has been meeting since last year to pull together ideas to represent Lisle.
In celebration of the Andy Warhol Exhibit and to draw attendees to Lisle, the Lisle Area Chamber is sponsoring the Yarn Art Project. The Yarn Art Project will be crocheted yarn art decorating the trees in downtown Lisle. If you would like to participate in this fun project visit the Chamber website www.lislechamber.com and it’s under “What’s New” for more information about how you can get involved in this colorful POP Art style Yarn Art project.
The Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Lisle Uncorked, A Wine Event on June 17th at the Museums at Lisle Station Park from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. Early Entry tickets are also available to purchase. Wine tastes are provided by Malloy’s Finest and beer tastes are provided by BubbleHouse Brewing Company. Also included with your ticket is a souvenir wine tasting glass, one free raffle ticket entry, and a free paint a pop art style wine glass. Food and drink vendors are Chamber members, Brasi’s Pizzeria, North American Pizza & Culinary Academy, Poundcake Bakery and Thrive Up. An Instagram Spot backdrop was designed by winner, Shayne Croke @mikojamesart for the event. Music will be provided by harpist, Dawn Bishop and the band, True Company. There are a few sponsorships still available for this event.
Do you like to golf? The Annual Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing will be at Seven Bridges Golf Club on July 18, 2023 with a 1:00pm shotgun start. Sponsorships and golfer registration is available, CLICK HERE.
The Lisle French Market is in full swing. As a Chamber Member benefit, you can put your business card or advertising on the Chamber table at the French Market. You may drop off your advertising at the Chamber office or stop by and visit Paula Gleason and vendors at the French Market on Saturdays, PrairieWalk Pond, Lisle) from 8-1pm.
