Greetings Savannah Presbytery!
In preparing to write to you, I reflected on the many aspects of my role as Director of Mission & Program Advancement in our presbytery. Like many of you, I have long been involved with the many programs of Savannah Presbytery. However, in this past year, my understanding of the “mission” aspect of my role has been broadened. In various committee meetings, I have heard members give their definitions of mission and their perspectives have been varied: extending resources to those in need, offering the Good News though campus ministry and summer camp, becoming activists for social and ecological justice, sharing God’s love and care with all of creation. Each perspective given, and many more not listed, can be supported by scripture as the mission of the Church.
I am drawn to the story in Acts 2 where the Holy Spirit came and filled those gathered and they began to speak in other languages. Each of us has a language- a drive or a passion- for particular missions of God’s kingdom. My prayer for each of us is that we take advantage of presbytery opportunities to gather together and open ourselves to possibly receiving “a new language” from the Holy Spirit. We may be led to participate in an upcoming Day Trip with the Racial Justice Ministry Team, to join a committee at the presbytery or to take a class from the School of the Laity to further equip us for service. In any and all of these actions, God can speak to us about what mission God is calling us to focus on now and to give us the “new language” we need to inspire others to participate: To God goes the Glory!
Peace,
Marty Susie

Grant Chapel Community Health Fair

Health Concerns: Grant Chapel Presbyterian Church has teamed with memebrs of the Health Care Community to sponsor a local health fair. Since the pandemic, we have either been shut down or shut in. It is time to get out. This is why it is important to know how we are doing as a community.
the SEGH systems, the Coastal Community Health System, the Department of Public Health, Dr. Glenn Sasser and UGA Extension Service of Glynn/McIntosh County are willing to join us in presenting this one-day event.
They will be checking your "blood pressure", weight and other lower level health concerns. It is important that we take advantage of this "free" service. In addition to these services, nutrition information, exercise and other health related information will be available.
Join us, Saturday, June 10th from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the corner of MLK St. and Butler St. In case of rain or other inclement weather, the event will be in the Annex of Grant Chapel Presbyterian Church. (506 North Way
