Zack's Place June 2023 Newsletter

May In Review

On May Mornings we had book group weekly with Bobbi Perez, we played games with Kitty and Doug, we cooked with Sarah and Doug, we walked to the Library, we did crafts with Kitty and Sarah, and we began a secret garden project. This garden is a clean up of a dump area that was above our second parking lot, We are very excited about it and will have pictures next month.

We kept our minds busy with art classes, singing with Kerry, Mark and Kathleen and Bob Horan, yoga classes, and Science classes with Linda G.

We stayed fit with Pickle Ball, yoga and fitness classes.

For field trips we had farm programs at Billings Farm, we bowled at Maple Lanes, we went to the Grange theater in Pomfret to see the Twelfth Night. We also started cycling with Vermont Adaptive on the Rail Trail. We went to Town Hall Theater to see the Magic School Bus "Lost in the Solar System" . We went to the Maple Landmark Factory and store in Middlebury, VT and on the way home hiked Thundering Brook water fall. We also visited the Granite Museum in Barre, VT.

The highlight of our month was the Musical Performance of Zilly Zonka and The Chocolate Factory.

Zilly Zonka and the Chocolate Factory

Zack's Place performed Zilly Zonka and the Chocolate Factory on May 10th. The cast of over 50 members did an extraordinary job performing to a full house. On Friday June 9th we will be going to Pentangle Town Hall Theater to watch the performance on the big screen at 10:30A. All are welcome to attend. Thank you to Pentangle for all of the generosity and making this performance possible.

Zack's Place Garden Event at Kelly Way Gardens on May 14th

Zack's Place Garden Event was a really fun event and well attended. Matt McClure prepared a delicious meal with a beautiful presentation. Ari Rockland-Miller taught us how to build Oyster Mushroom totem poles, innoculate logs with Shitake Mushrooms and build a wine cap mushroom bed. The gardens were just waking up but the daffodils were beautiful and adorned the hand made wooden tables in the barn. Norm Frates raised lots of donations with a successful auction.
