PRIM&R is saddened by the recent passing of our colleague, Nicole Duffee, DVM, PhD, on June 11, 2023. Nicole recently served as the Director of Education and Scientific Affairs for the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS). Nicole was a devoted advocate for continued education in the laboratory animal science field and, most notably, helped found the AALAS Learning Library with her colleague, Mike Fallon. In addition, she was a founding member of the Laboratory Animal Welfare Training Exchange and previously acted as president, and Nicole served within PRIM&R as both a member of its volunteer IACUC Conference Planning Committee and a speaker at IACUC Conferences. We always enjoyed working with Nicole—she was a true collaborator and was committed to educating and connecting with those working in animal care and use and lab animal science. We will miss working with Nicole and seeing her at meetings, and we are sending our thoughts to her family, friends, and colleagues at AALAS.
