Generally Useful Information

Please note:

We've received several generous offers of various quantities of textbooks available from parishes that are switching curriculum, cleaning closets, etc. Yay for spring cleaning, yay for generosity, yay for using good curriculum!

If the texts are on Bishop Ricken's list of approved textbooks for use in our Diocese, we are happy to post them here in the newsletter for other parishes to take advantage of the offer. But, so as not to appear to be endorsing textbooks that are not on the approved list, we'll refrain from posting any other offers.

Thanks for your understanding and dedication to mission.

Second Note:

Tis the season! Please let us know of any changes in your parish's religious education/faith formation leadership. We try very hard to welcome newcomers, offer our prayers and support, introduce them to Diocesan resources and their peers. We'd also like to recognize the dedication to ministry by those vacating those offices. Please send updates (including effective date of new hire) to [email protected].

Children in Your Parish's Eucharistic Procession on June 11th

Please pray for our missionaries, core team and chaperones at Our Lady of Lourdes (June 11-14) and at Sacred Heart, Shawano (Jun25-28) and Holy Spirit, Kimberly (July 9-12).

Through the intercession of St. Mother Teresa, may they boldly proclaim Christ's love and love as He loved. In the service work they do (it does not matter how small or humble it may be), make it Christ's love in action. Amen.

If you're in the throes of seeking new catechists for the Fall, please encourage your prospective and new catechists to take a Franciscan at Home workshop.

A great place to start would be "The Vocation of the Catechist." Here's why:

  • The workshop is online; the video segments are 8-10minutes each, and participants can complete the workshop on their own timeline, in their own surroundings.
  • The workshop is completely free (thanks to Bishop's Appeal and grant funding)
  • The workshop fulfills a requirement for catechetical certification.
  • The workshop is informative and inspiring regarding the mission of catechesis and the role of catechist.

As leader, you'll be able to track the progress of your catechists and offer encouragement or answer questions along the way. If YOU need help getting started on the Franciscan at Home, please contact Sheila Re at [email protected].

Prayer for Parishes/Pastors in Transition this Summer

Almighty God,

You who called the universe into existence,

You who formed our inmost being and called us to be your people:

We give you thanks for your constant presence.

Grant that those priests & pastors being called into new waters might hold fast to your unending love and mercy as a buoy – a love that promises to hold onto them as they go where they are called.

May the parishes that receive them be communities of mercy and grace.

May the parishes experiencing loss and change hold fast to the promise that their mission is bigger than any single pastor.

Strengthen us to be your Church in all times and seasons of life – a place where all are welcomed and embraced by your love.

We offer our prayers in the name of the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
