After many months of inclement weather on the third Wednesday of the month, twelve birders were finally rewarded with a gorgeous spring day on May 19th at Goldwater Lake. We met by the 'feeders' where we spent a few minutes getting acquainted as Steller's Jays, nuthatches and squirrels entertained us nearby.
Moving towards the lake and surrounding environments, we counted thirty species of birds. Hooded Merganser and Bald Eagle had lagged behind to say 'hello.' In addition, we saw a slate of year-round residents, as well as a few summer migrants, such as the Violet-green Swallow and Yellow Warbler.
We will continue to meet on the third Wednesday of the month. Plan on joining us for our next birding experience at Granite Creek Park in the heart of Prescott on June 21st at 7:00 am.
