Make the most out of your gardening in June!

If you enjoyed what you planted in May, continue sowing and enjoying the same veggies during the month of June. It's warm enough to add some more tender varieties to your collection of vegetables such as beans, cucumbers and tomatoes.

It is a great time to try more challenging options such as watermelon and hot peppers or any other heat-loving veggies.

Remember to…

  • Use fresh organic soil and keep it evenly moist during the growing season.
  • If you are using containers, take advantage of being able to be move them out of unpredictable weather; remember, weeds are not an issue!

Let's talk cucumbers and zucchini!

Cucumbers are excellent for early summer growing and snacking. They are good for vertical growth on a trellis in a 12-inch pot.

Try ones suitable for the patio that mature in 55 days. Some varieties include patio snacker and pickling.

Zucchini is a summer squash that is easy to grow - it is a great option for someone beginning their gardening journey. They require the work of many bees for pollination, so pesticide use is strongly discouraged.

Try them out – most mature in about 50 days!
