REGISTER FOR OUR SUMMER PICNIC!

Our 2024 Summer Picnic will be held on Sunday, July 21st from from 1-3:30pm in the spacious Tom Tudek Memorial Park in State College. Pavilion 1 is in a shady area behind the restrooms off the upper playground (NOT the dog park entrance).

You may choose to bring your own picnic lunch or eat at home and join us for our ice cream bar and some games, dance fun with Michele Dunleavy, and activities with the PSU Women’s Soccer Team! There is a playground for small fry right next to our pavilion, and one for older kidlets a short walk away along a paved path, although that one is in the sun, so bring your sunscreen. There is also a walking path around the perimeter of the park and several shortcuts for those who may not want to walk the whole loop.

Registration is free, but we do need to know how many folks are coming for planning purposes. Registration ends Sunday, July 14th, one week before the picnic.

We hope to see you there!

CRDSS is seeking volunteer photographers to help us get video and still photos of different events.

While a DSLR is desirable, a more recent mobile phone that takes high-grade images and video is also fine for many of our events. We hope to find people who have some feeling for image composition and background.

Welcome to these new members of your Board of Directors!

Jennifer Jewell is the mother of CRDSS member Nathan Jewell, and has been active for a number of years. She has chaired the 3-21 Celebration Dance committee and the Buddy Walk raffle. Jen has experience with accounting and managing donors and sales information and has recently stepped into the role of Board Treasurer.

Eric Ulsh is the brother-in-law of CRDSS member Joe Nelson. Eric and his wife Sharon Nelson invited Joe to move in with them 15 years ago, and Eric and Joe travel together, both socially and to Down syndrome conventions. Eric is passionate about advocacy and equality and currently represents CRDSS in state advocacy calls and efforts.

In other Board news...

In addition to welcoming Jen and Eric to the board, we wish to thank outgoing president Krista Wilkinson for her service. John Moses Brownson became the Board's president in June. Thank you also to Katie Feliz, who has served has Vice President. Susie Williams took on this role beginning in June. Dawn Sowers will act as the Board's secretary now, replacing Acting Secretary John Brownson. (We like to play musical chairs around here!)
