MG Community Website Users Manual
We have many new residents since last year. We also have existing residents who have asked for a refresher course on how to use the Mountain Glen Community website.
The questions we get asked most often are: 1) how to sign in to the MG Member-Homeowners Directory (and how to update contact information) and 2) how to RSVP to POA events online. You will find instructions to both by following this link: POA Website User Manuel.

As many of you know, with well wishes from everyone, Dave Burleson left Mountain Glen at the end of last season for a job in a different field.
Mountain Glen Golf Club is extremely fortunate in securing Robert Nowak as our new Director of Golf. Robert comes to us from Cedar Rock Country Club in Lenoir, where he was most recently Director of Golf. Robert is a Certified PGA Professional and has a strong command of the business aspects of running a golf club as well as the game itself, and running tournaments, clinics, and inndividual instruction.
As Director of Golf, Robert’s goal for Mountain Glen Golf Club (one out of many anyway!) is to continue to bring the community and families together, while providing an upscale experience to the “average Joe” via unparalleled value, service, and attitude. To facilitate communication, golf club members should already be receiving Robert's weekly newsletter, The Back 9.
Although the season is just getting underway, you may already notice a few changes such as the new golf carts with GPS, 10 minutes between tee times to help with flow of play, and a newly reopened Pro Shop with new paint, fixtures, lighting, and new merchandise (including some new brands for the shop).
Robert and his lovely wife, Jessie, have been married over 15 years and have three boys, ages 9, 10, and 12. Jessie homeschooles the boys. The family is looking forward to enjoying the abundance of nature in the area that encourages a simpler, slower, and more focused lifestyle, as well as the small community atmosphere.

Monday Night Dinner Prices, Explained
|
As we enter another social season at Mountain Glen, our volunteer POA Board is happy to be able to continue to provide fun, reasonably priced Monday night dinners and events throughout the season. This year, social membership dues remain, as they have for many years, just $50 per household for16 events (approximately $3.13 per event). The $50 covers the cost of facility rental, clean up costs beyond what our volunteers do (required by ADC), supplies, inexpensive decorations that get reused, and occasional entertainment. Rather than raising the overall cost of the social membership fee, we believe charging a cover fee per event is preferable so that people can choose which events they want to enjoy.
As you can imagine, as we all face continuing inflation, every single caterer raised their prices again this year. Because of this, we have had to make a few catering changes (a few caterers dropped out and new ones were found) and have also been forced to increase the cost of catered dinners by $2 per person, bringing the cost to $20 per person. Six dinners are catered; the other ten events are not. Cookouts will remain $10 per person, which offsets the cost of the meat, and potluck dinners will remain $5 per person, to help pay needed for kitchen help.
Please also remember that when you are paying for a catered meal, we are paying for delivery, service, taxes, tip and the food cost is being amortized across all food options, rather than just what you eat. So if there are three side dish options and you choose to eat only one, you are still contributing to the cost of having the selection of all three.
We still believe the Monday night dinners are a great value and a wonderful way to socialize with your neighbors and look forward to seeing you all this year!
If you have any questions about the Monday Night Social Events, please reach out to Joan McGaffigan at 817-235-4447 or Ronna Campbell at 678-907-7710. Looking forward to seeing you this summer!

Monday Night Dinners Just Got Easier
|
As anyone who has ever volunteered to help with a Monday night dinner knows, the POA supply closet is where it all starts and ends.
Over the winter, Ronna Campbell and Lee Neel took on the task of cleaning out and organizing the closet so now everything has a place and is in it. All containers are clear and clearly marked. We hope this makes it easier for volunteers to set up and clean up. For all who help, please be sure to put things back where they belong.
This may not seem exactly newsworthy, but for anyone who has ever volunteered to help on a Monday night dinner, trust me, it is!
