June 2024

Happy June! We have some exciting news this month. . .

As of June 1st, we have our 50/50 draw open for anyone to participate in (as long as you live in BC). We are thrilled to offer this to our members. After a successful draw last year, we are motivated to reach even higher numbers now!

More donations = more potential winnings.

We are so excited to share this information with you - our upcoming gala for accessibility officially has tickets for sale. We are planning a wonderful night that will be educational, informative, accessible, and fun! You do not want to miss out on this. Share the information with your friends, and buy some tickets today: CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE.

By purchasing a ticket, you are helping us be able to better support individuals living with disabilities in the lower mainland, providing more opportunities for equal accessibility and the ability for people to live independently. Not only that, but you will have a wonderful experience with entertainment, 3-course plated dinner, speakers and an announcement from us at LPAS.

Also, how awesome is it that you receive a tax receipt for a portion of your ticket after the event?!

Travelling with a Disability: Video Link

Check out this video that is linked on our website, under our inspirational videos section. It is extremely helpful to realize what traveling with a disability is like, using various different modes of transportation.

PAD Program

Personal Assistive Devices Program makes it possible to request a personal assistive piece of equipment.

If you would like to browse available equipment, please visit our catalog here.

We are seeking donations of power chairs, particularly small power chairs. They provide individuals with limited mobility more independence.

We are needing donations of scooters. These offer essential independence and freedom of movement for those with mobility challenges.

TOAD Program

We have developed several programs which promote understanding of and increase empathy towards persons with disabilities.

Ideal as team-building exercises, employee or management retreats, school educational experiences, seminars, in-services, or lunch and learn events, these activities are fun, interactive and eye-opening.

The Accessibility Map App is here!

The purpose is to enable access to public buildings for anyone who might have challenges, such as seniors, mothers with strollers, and people with disabilities. Disabilities include mobility issues, hearing loss, blindness, and many other conditions requiring assistive devices.

This can be easily accessed on any device (laptop, phone, iPad). We are encouraging all members of our community to take time and rate different locations you go to in terms of 3 main accessibility features: mobility, vision, and hearing. You can rate (create accessibility reports) and review (read over previously submitted accessibility reports) directly on the app!
