Food From the Heart is a group of volunteers who meet one Saturday each month to prepare and then deliver meals to various members of our congregation who are in need of a little TLC due to a birth, a death, hospitalization, medical issues, etc. What a wonderful way for us to show someone we care!! Everyone is welcome to help. Children under the age of 10 years is at the parent’s discretion. FFTH meets on the first Saturday of each month, from September through May from 9:30am – 11:30am. The next event is September 7, 2024.

It is amazing how many families and individuals have been touched by the meals prepared and delivered by this wonderful group of volunteers. It is a true sense of community to come together to prepare these meals for those in need. People who have received the meals are so touched and grateful for the thought and the work that blessed them with a meal.

Kellie Richards has been volunteering with FFtH since 2012 when her son needed service hours for Confirmation. They found it was a fun way to serve. Kellie told us, "Over the years, I have met so many wonderful people—many who have shared some heart-warming stories, and it is not only the people who are helping with the meals, it is also the appreciative ones who are receiving the meal. Some of my favorite stories are from the people who were blessed with a meal in the past, and then later sign up to help bless others." Kellie added that there are no cooking skills required! "We do food prep with little more than can openers, measuring cups, and mixing bowls with large spoons! We also appreciate those who can help deliver a meal or two."

We live in a world of intense measurement. If you have a smart watch it tracks you on your workout, health, your sleep. Perhaps your water bill or electric bill tells you how much you have used in a previous month or year. If you are on social media you get "likes" or "follows" for activities and pictures. When it comes to Sabbath, what is your measure? Do you need a congratulations? Are you filled by the music, the message? As the hymn states… ”take time to be holy, speak oft with the Lord.” Come to church, immerse yourself in the Word, the music, and the community.

From the Handbell Tables

Did you know that there are at least TWO more octaves of bells that a large bell choir could theoretic-ally own? I’m speaking of bells that are one octave higher than what most groups have and, even rarer, one octave lower. I noticed that our “Great Gate of Kiev” last month had many “optional” low bass bells in the score, indicated with parenthesis. To my knowledge, there is no church bell choir in Arizona that owns a full octave of bells lower than what our Carillon de Cristo bass players ring, but a bell director can dream, can’t he?

Hello La Casa WOMEN!

Your travel guide may be able to supply you with information on hospitals near the destination at which you will be staying. The U.S. Embassy or Consulate in the country you’ll travel to also may be able to provide you with a list of hospitals and English-speaking doctors. Another reference for a list of medical facilities at your destination is the organization, "International Association for Medical Assistance to Travellers (IAMAT)."
