June 2024 Anno Domini
“You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everybody. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.”
2 Corinthians 3:2-3

Storytelling
Just as Paul wrote letters to the churches and people of Corinth, Galatia, Philippi, Timothy, Titus, and so many more, instructing them in the faith, we should pass on our story and wisdom to family and friends.
Everyone has a story to tell, and, if given the chance and a little undivided attention, people will impart their wisdom, experiences, and interesting facts about their life to you. It brings a better understanding of one another and closes the gap between the generations.
Storytelling is a special gift that many possess, passing down the history of families, faith, and historical events. My own mother wrote a book recalling her memories of her childhood, growing up during the Great Depression. Despite the time period, her childhood was a happy one. The book is a treasure to my family! Anyone older who has read it has told my mom that this is their story, too.
There are companies dedicated to helping us write down our stories. They send a new question every week in an email, which prompts you to tell a little about yourself, and, at the end of a year, will compile your story into a book (with photos that you provide) to be gifted to family members who will treasure such a book of your memories.
On this day in history, known as D-Day, troops of the allied armies stormed the beaches of Normandy to fight to defeat the German Nazi forces and bring about an end to WWII. Eighty years later, the few surviving soldiers of this event were gathered in France to be thanked, cele-brated, and to tell their personal remembrances of that operation. Their stories will be told for many generations!
Right here in our own communities, there are many seniors in our lives who would love nothing more than for us to sit with them and ask them their story. Record these times spent together! Write down your own story and pass it on, along with your faith, to inspire the next generation!

A couple of weeks ago, someone said to me, "Are you glad that the busy season of Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter are now over?"
I shared with them, while some seasons are exceptionally packed, the summer is not a time when La Casa de Cristo "slows down." Sure, we have many people leave town, worship attendance is not as robust, and the heat is on!
However, looking at June 2024, in addition to four weekly worship services, we have Royal Family Kids Camp, Junior High Camp, our Youth Summer Trip to New Mexico, and preparations are well underway for VBX! This is in addition to summer bible studies, activities for all ages, and more!
That is not to mention the ongoing activities of ALL of our ministries here at La Casa de Cristo! Visible or behind the scenes, we continue to live out our mission statement, "Loving those who don’t know Jesus, and growing those who do!"
So, we stay active here year around, not just to stay busy, but to live out our mission statement, and move forward in mission and ministry!
If you are in town, come join us in person, and if you are traveling, sick, at a summer home, or on the go, plug in online at lacasadecristo.com or one of our many streaming options!
Have a blessed June!
In Christ,
Pastor Jeff Ruby, Lead Pastor

The photo below is of the group that recently returned from La Casa’s Bible Study tour to Malta and Italy. The group was following the route of the Apostle Paul’s fourth missionary journey, from his shipwreck in Malta to his destination in Rome. At the end of the tour, the group had the privilege of making a side trip to Assisi. This photo was taken outside the churches of Assisi.

Assisi is the home place of St. Francis (c 1181-1226). Francis is known for founding the religious order of the Franciscans, but perhaps even better known for his benevolence, dedicating his life to a way of poverty for the sake of those around him. Francis sought to imitate Christ in all that he did, taking care of the people, animals, and all of creation around him. The legacy that he left is a powerful example for all Christians. The meaningful quote, "Preach the Gospel at all times and, when necessary, use words," is attributed to St. Francis.

Love of Learning (LOL)
John Jay Harper will be our Love of Learning guest speaker on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 1pm in Room B. His presentation “Practical Gardening for the summer in the Desert” is one not to be missed. Jay comes to us with tons of knowledge to share. He was president of Harper’s Nursery and Landscape Co. for 37 years. After the business closed in 2017, Jay continued his commitment to growing better crops, turf, plants and trees naturally and organically in a few different roles. The Harper name is a familiar one here at La Casa de Cristo and we are very excited that he will be spending time to teach us gardening tips. In addition, there will be a special take away for each participant that attends the presentation. Find out all the details at lacasadecristo.com/lol
Another opportunity we have related to learning and gardening is on Monday, June 10, 2024 at 10am in the front office Conference Room. Guest speaker Berney Streed will be taking a walking tour with all attendees to see areas on campus that could use a little extra tender loving care (TLC). If you have a little 'TLC' that you would be willing to share with your church family, we would love to have you join us. After the meeting, which typically lasts one hour, you will have the opportunity to start tackling some of the identified projects, or you will be welcome to come back and work on a project at a time that suits you better. Please do not begin a project without prior approval. Children that may want to attend must be supervised by their parent or legal guardian. Bring water and wear a hat and sunscreen!
Blessings,
Donna Bosley
