Recently added to the catalog is a brand new combination lecture and discussion course, Modern Controversies in Bioethics (Course 13401). Examine challenging and thought-provoking issues situated at the intersection of law and medicine through the lens of bioethics. Focus on the current scope of reproductive rights, recent innovations in genetic science, the fierce debates surrounding vaccines, informed consent in populations with special needs, and contentious end-of-life issues. Instructor Wendy Luftig, a seasoned healthcare attorney, will be providing reading materials and suggested questions for discussion in advance. This six-week class begins Tuesday, July 8, 2025.

SAS Hall of Famer Alfred Hunt will lead a Thursday morning summer session of his popular Let's Talk Current Events: Topics in the News (Course 13382). Starting July 10, 2025, meet weekly to discuss a variety of challenging topics, including popular culture, politics, media issues and other items in the news — at the local, national and international levels. Engage in stimulating conversation with a group of curious, well-informed and friendly news junkies. Newcomers are always welcome to these facilitated round-table conversations.
