President's Message
One of the top priorities of ASVCP is to provide quality educational opportunities for people
interested in veterinary clinical pathology. To accomplish this, ASVCP is holding in-person
events at ACVIM Forum 2025 and the 2025 ACVP Annual Meeting. We also hope to increase the number of virtual events available to ASVCP members in 2025. These include continuation of monthly Online Rounds, a Resident Liaison Group Lecture Series, and Continuing Education Modules for Veterinary Laboratory Professionals. We will send out notifications of these events as they become available. Please check your ASVCP membership profile to ensure you are receiving messages from ASVCP.

Finance and Development Committee (F&D)
| | |
The Finance and Development Committee (F&D) of the ASVCP was formed in 2024 to focus on the sustained fiscal health of the ASVCP. Our mission includes the development of financial policies for the society, promoting responsible stewardship of societal funds, implementing strategic or long-term initiatives to grow financial resources, and fostering relationships with donors and corporate partners.
Each year the F&D committee is responsible for:
- Developing comprehensive financial policies for the ASVCP and regularly reviewing existing policies
- Meeting with the ASVCP’s investment advisor to assess the society’s investment portfolio
- Reviewing the ASVCP’s financial reserves and proposing any changes to financial policies, if warranted
- Soliciting corporate sponsorship in support of ASVCP activities
- Identifying funding opportunities and developing new fundraising initiatives
- Cultivating donors and sponsors
- Helping to update the ASVCP donation portal, as needed
F&D is seeking additional members to join the committee! If you enjoy strategic thinking, process improvement, project management, or team building, please consider joining us. We welcome enthusiasm, fresh ideas, and creative thinking.
If you would like to get involved, please contact
committee chair, Nora Springer (nspringer@utk.edu).
| | Get To Know Your ASVCP Executive Board: Tara Piech | | |
Dear ASVCP Members,
My name is Tara Piech, and I am the first year ASVCP Executive Board (EB) member. I am the EB liaison for the Quality Assurance and Laboratory Standards (QALS) Committee and the Resident Liaison Group (RLG). QALS has been working diligently on a digital cytology guidelines document and endocrinology total allowable error guidelines, while the RLG ensures that residents are represented on all the ASVCP committees and is currently working on a summer webinar series. I feel honored to be able to serve our Society and our members in such a meaningful way. I truly could not ask for a better group of people to work with on the EB who are genuinely kindhearted, thoughtful, levelheaded, and always put our members first.
I currently live on (not “in,” as the locals will tell you!) Long Island, New York, and am the Cytopathology Manager and Clinical Pathologist for Zoetis Reference Laboratories. I love working collaboratively with various stakeholder groups to advance our diagnostic services and working closely with colleagues to help them reach their professional goals.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my partner Sebastian and our orange cat Romo, who runs the house and definitely lives up to the orange cat stereotype! I enjoy running, cooking, going to concerts, and traveling to NYC frequently to explore the endless amazing restaurants and breweries that it has to offer.
