Is It Time for a Check-Up?
Your Health and Your Church’s Health Matter
Each year, most of us are encouraged to schedule an annual physical. These check-ups help us catch small issues before they become big problems. They give us a picture of our overall health, provide insight into what’s going well, and offer advice on what needs attention. It’s a wise and proactive step toward long-term health.
But what about your church?
Just as our bodies need regular assessment, so do our churches. Ministry can sometimes get so busy with Sunday services, programs, and events that we miss signs of fatigue, imbalance, or dysfunction in the body of Christ. A church check-up helps us evaluate where we are, how we’re doing, and where God might be leading us next.
Here are a few questions to consider for a quick church health check-up:
Spiritual Health – Are we growing in discipleship, prayer, and biblical engagement?
Missional Focus – Are we reaching out beyond our walls with the gospel and acts of love?
Leadership Development – Are we raising up and equipping leaders for the future?
Unity and Fellowship – Is our church family marked by love, grace, and connection?
Vision Alignment – Are we still moving in the direction God has called us?
Just like a doctor’s visit, a church check-up isn’t about guilt—it’s about growth. It’s a chance to celebrate what’s healthy and make adjustments where needed, all for the sake of greater faithfulness and fruitfulness.
As we head into the second half of the year, let’s commit to checking in—both personally and as a church body. Contact me if you would like a more comprehensive Church Health Assessment, and if I can assist as you develop a strategy. Let’s pursue health together so that we can pursue Christ more fully.
