Summer Ministry Update

As we begin our summer camps this month, I’m filled with anticipation to see how the Lord will move once again in the lives of our campers. If you have children or grandchildren interested in attending one of our children’s camps, applications are available on our website at www.southcentralbaptistnetwork.com under the camp page. The deadline to turn in applications is approaching soon.

I've been in touch with all the churches that help prepare and serve meals during camp. In the past, we’ve also asked churches not involved in meal service to contribute needed items like paper goods and other supplies. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity we received last year, we are well-stocked for this summer.

Instead, we are asking our churches to consider receiving a love offering during June to support our camp fund. This fund helps cover vital needs such as maintenance, facility upgrades, and utilities. It’s currently running low, and any contributions—whether from churches or individuals—would be a tremendous blessing.

Please keep our Camp Directors, Missionaries, and all the children attending in your prayers. This marks my 15th summer here, and every year we witness children coming to know Christ and surrendering their lives to Him. Your ongoing prayers and support are vital to this life-changing ministry.

Vacation Bible Schools

I’m also looking forward to visiting several of our churches' Vacation Bible Schools throughout this month and next. These VBS programs are powerful evangelistic efforts, and I’m praying that God will move mightily. Please join me in praying for each church hosting VBS—that many children will come to know Christ through their ministry.

Mission Trip to Peru

At the end of this month, I’ll be traveling with Penia Baptist Church to Peru to share the gospel in local schools and churches. Pinecrest Baptist Church will be making a similar trip in July. It’s been nearly 20 years since I last visited Peru, and I’m excited to return. We are praying that this mission effort, partnering with David Granthem and Grasp International, will become an ongoing missional opportunity for our churches. Please keep our teams in your prayers as we go.

Southern Baptist Convention

Finally, I ask for your prayers for the upcoming Southern Baptist Convention, taking place June 9–11 in Dallas, Texas. Please pray for wisdom for the messengers as they vote and conduct business. Laura and I will be attending as messengers, and we truly covet your prayers for safe travel and a powerful move of God as thousands of Southern Baptists gather together. I am praying that the Lord will pour out His Spirit and do a mighty work during our time there.
