GOEVIN: Closing the Gap Tour Recap

This month, the GOEVIN team traveled to eight different locations across Indiana to spread awareness and information about the GOEVIN program and new available funding for publicly accessible Direct Current Fast Chargers (DCFC) and Level 2 charging stations.

In Evansville, Clarksville, Indianapolis, Muncie, Fort Wayne, South Bend, and Hammond, interested parties were able to ask specific questions about funding criteria and details to ensure they have no issues when submitting their project for funding.

DCI Board Member Spotlight

Professional Questions:

How long have you been a Drive Clean Indiana Board Member?

This is my first year serving on the DCI Board.

Why did you join the DCI Board?

We’ve been working closely with the Electron Charger team as part of a large-scale redevelopment of more than 300 acres on the northwest side of Indianapolis. Through those efforts, Patrick introduced us to Drive Clean Indiana. The organization’s mission aligns perfectly with our goals of intentional, forward-thinking development - especially when it comes to sustainability and infrastructure planning. Joining the board felt like a natural next step!

What is your role/contribution to the coalition as a DCI Board Member?

I bring a unique perspective as the representative of a major real estate developer actively reshaping a large part of Indianapolis. In addition to that, I’m a public relations practitioner, which allows me to contribute communications and community engagement expertise to further the coalition’s reach and impact.

What DCI event do you enjoy the most?

I’ve enjoyed every event so far. It’s a completely new and fascinating industry to me, and I’ve appreciated the opportunity to learn from others who are driving real change. I also appreciate everyone's willingness to teach me.

Get to Know Susan:

What is something not many people know about you?

I’ve never had a cavity!

How do you spend your time outside of work?

Outside of work, I’m usually attending soccer matches, hiking, walking the dog, or just soaking up the good parts of life.

Coffee or tea?

Neither - give me a Coke Zero, please!

What's a movie or TV show you've watched recently that you'd recommend?

Our company is the franchisee of Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Indianapolis, so I’m lucky to catch a lot of films. I’d recommend The Accountant 2. It recently hit theaters and delivers both action and suspense.

What is something you're looking forward to?

I’m looking forward to launching another exciting project on the northwest side of Indianapolis - an event venue called La Flaca. It’s always rewarding to see our plans take shape and bring new energy to the area.

What do you hope to learn during this internship?: I hope to learn more about the grant writing process and network with other professionals.

What projects have you been working on this summer?: I've been working on analyzing projects for a funding opportunity using an internally developed map of the alternative fuel corridors in Indiana. I've also made calculations using the AFDC AFLEET Tool to determine emissions of fleets and their environmental impact.

What are your future goals?: I aspire to complete my M.S. degree and work for a consulting firm or the Indiana DNR as a Hydrogeologist.

Fun Fact: I know how to shoot a bow, and I've shot two Robin Hoods in the past.

June Highlighted Fuel

Biodiesel is a renewable, biodegradable fuel that can be manufactured domestically from vegetable oils, animal fats, or recycled restaurant grease. It is a cleaner-burning replacement for petroleum diesel fuel.

Biodiesel is a liquid fuel often referred to as B100 or neat biodiesel in its pure, unblended form. Like petroleum diesel, biodiesel is used to fuel compression-ignition engines, which run on petroleum diesel.

Biodiesel vs. Renewable Diesel: Which Is Better for Your Fleet?

"When using either biofuel, it is important to understand how they differ from petroleum diesel and how to use them correctly. Key considerations include fuel filter lifespan, engine compatibility and performance, filtration dynamics, efficiency, and environmental impact."
