Executive Director Message
Jill Eidukas
Congratulations to Mayor Mary Jo Mullen, Village Trustees Kristy Grau, Christy McGovern, and Tom Duffy, and the Village Clerk Ed McQuillan on being elected to their seats on the Lisle Village Board. I would also like to welcome the new Lisle Village Manager Jeffrey Cook.
The Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce hosted our Annual Golf Outing at Chamber Member Seven Bridges Golf Club on May 13th. This was a great event with lots of sunshine, golf, eating and networking. Thank you to all of our golf sponsors. Presenting Sponsor, Molex, LLC; Platinum Sponsors, Lisle Savings Bank and Pulse Studio, LLC; Beverage Cart Sponsor Cylinders, Inc.; Snack Cart Sponsor, State Farm Insurance, Luis F. Garcia. Thank you to Christopher Buehler and Four Lakes Recreation for the golfer gift of a sleeve of golf balls and Tee Time Golf Range for the water game golf balls.
We filled all 18 holes and the putting green with sponsors. This is the first time that has ever happened. We also had more golfers this year. The Annual Golf Outing date was changed this year to move it to May to be the first golf outing of the year instead of in the middle of the season in July. Thank you, Nicholas Haines of Seven Bridges Golf Club for his skills at running a golf outing. Thank you, Tom Reif, Chairman and the Chair of the Golf Committee and the entire Golf Committee for helping plan and execute this event. We would not be able to do these events without our volunteers. A special shout out to our Office Manager, Claudine Rummer, for her excellent preparation for this event. A donation is being made to the Lisle Education Foundation. We thank them for partnering with us this year.
Check out the new Hokusai art installation in Downtown Lisle. Hokusai is the new artist that has an exhibition this summer at the McAninch Art Center at College of DuPage. Also visit Past Presence Custom Framing to view their window that features a Hokusai inspired rendering of a landmark in Lisle by artist Richard Lo. Take a trip through the art installation from Main Street to PrairieWalk Pond that has AR features and provides a background on the artist, Hokusai. This is a truly an exciting exhibit in Downtown Lisle to tie in to the Hokusai Exhibit at the MAC at College of DuPage.
The Lisle Area Chamber has a Downtown Lisle Passport Adventure running June 1st through June 15th in Downtown Lisle. Pick up a passport in the lobby at the Chamber Office located in Lisle Village Hall, 925 Burlington Avenue. Visit 12 out of the 15 businesses listed on the passport and received a cherry blossom stamp at those participating businesses. Once you have 12 stamps, drop it off in the box in the lobby of Lisle Village Hall (Hours are 8:00 am – 4:30 pm) or drop in the mail slot at DPG Real Estate Agency, 4742 Main Street. The passport will enter you into a raffle to win a gift basket of gift cards and items donated by the participating businesses. The gift basket will also include 2 tickets to the Hokusai Exhibit at the MAC at College of DuPage. You can also grab a passport at the Chamber table at the Lisle Woman’s Club Garden Gait event on June 8th.
The Chamber hosted a partner table at the Illinois Chamber Women in Business Conference in May. We heard many inspiring stories, ideas how to improve our businesses and a lot of networking. I urge you to attend the event next year for networking and information from women across Illinois.
The Lisle Bottles Barrels & Brews Committee is working hard on planning the Lisle Bottles Barrels & Brews event on August 16th. This brand-new event will have tasting samples of craft beer, wine and spirits. There will be live music, yard games and great food. Tickets are on sale now at EventBrite. Buy your tickets early since this event might sell out fast.
I hope you have a great summer and enjoy all that the Chamber and the Lisle Community has to offer.
