A National Philanthropic sorority focusing on art, literature, music and speech & hearing. | | |
It is tough to say goodbye, but this will be my final newsletter article as your National President. I don't have the literary talent that some people do, and coming up with a different topic every month hasn't always been simple, but I'm happy for the opportunity to Share the Past while Experiencing our Future in Psi Iota Xi.
My chapter worked hard for several years to achieve this point. The path that all of us as members of Psi Iota Xi have taken to get to the 122nd National Convention is extremely important. We're not only reaching our final destination, but we're also going on a new adventure under a new president for the coming year, with a new agenda, a different theme, and growing excitement to push us to continue to grow into something bigger and more successful than who we are now. A new future is right around the corner.
As Psi Iota Xi women, we collaborate to make a difference by bringing cultural experiences to our communities through art, literature, and music. We will commemorate this during convention with a Battle of the Districts Lip Sync during the Friday Night Welcome Party. On Saturday, we will have Art Day, followed by an evening to celebrate our Psi Ote Shooting Stars. On Sunday, we will conclude the convention by celebrating literature.
Upsilon has been especially focused on keeping convention costs as low as possible. We have received donations from local businesses, organizations, and individuals to help cover some of the costs, but we couldn't do it without you and your willingness to attend. Thank you to our sisters who are participating in convention! Thank you for your commitment to making our event a success. We hope you find the workshops and networking opportunities useful. We hope you will participate in fellowship with your sisters and make new friends, and we appreciate your support.
I'm looking forward to seeing you at convention. If you have a minute, please come up and speak with me. I'd love to spend a minute or two with you and get to know you better.
Loyally,
Mickie Hansen

I'd want to thank everyone in our chapters for working so hard to finish and submit their pre-convention reports on time. It's a process, and we appreciate your efforts. We also appreciate the hard work and long hours that our District Officers put in to examine their districts' PCRs, and the time you devote to our DOs when they call with questions or concerns is also appreciated. Thank you for your understanding and teamwork.

Don’t forget to be kind to yourself. Each of you are one of a kind, a rare jewel more precious than the most treasured gem. Everyday you make the world and your chapter a better place. Being yourself is what makes Psi Iota Xi shine and build our communities. Kindness is shown by reaching out to new members, helping them feel included, and fostering a sense of belonging.
This type of kindness has been shown to me all year as I have visited my southeast chapters. I have enjoyed dinners with officers, tea parties, and learning a new yummy homemade ice cream recipe. I feel grateful to see the chapters in action.

I also attended Zeta Mu, Jasper, Indiana's 65th anniversary celebration. The members were welcoming and enthusiastic about their chapter. I could see how much they truly care about supporting each other. They also shared some of their recent events and initiatives which focus on philanthropic causes. I was impressed by the genuine bonds they share and the positive environment they’ve built. It was a very eye-opening experience to share with others.
As we embrace the beauty of summer, let’s continue to build on the strength of our sisterhood. Together, we are capable of achieving great things, and the love and support we share will carry us through whatever challenges may arise. Cultivating a community where members can interact, share experiences and support one another can help to retain our members and help to introduce new members as well. Grab your sisters and come spend the weekend at National Convention June 28th and 29th, learning how we do so much for all our communities. Purchase tickets and you could win a great raffle basket. Here’s to another month of growth, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at National Convention.

Have you ever wished you could invite all Psi Ote sisters to your chapter's fundraiser or special event?
If you are planning an event or fundraiser (in person or virtual) and would like to share your invitation with Psi Ote Sisters from other chapters, let us know. The newsletter is great way to reach many sisters and hopefully increase your attendance or sales!
Electronic money transfer apps like Venmo plus virtual platforms like Facebook Live make it possible for even our most distant sisters to participate in another chapter's fundraisers with ease. You can support your sisters across the organization, and you might even get a few ideas for your own chapter!
Advertising in the newsletter is easy, just email janepatton@psiiotaxi.org and she will do the rest.
