Opening Prayer
For June 8, and every day... a prayer to end gun violence:
God of the slain,
God of the murdered and the victim,
The voice of lamentation echoes across the land.
Wailing beside graves opened too soon,
Weeping beside stains of blood
From the dead and the injured
Pouring forth from bullet wounds:
The child shot,
The suicide,
The domestic assault,
The gang violence,
The mass murder,
The long night of death made easy by guns
And automatic weapons.
The long night of sorrow made easy
By reckless access to machines of slaughter.
Amen.

Leadership Coaching Project
If you are looking to get more consistency in your ministry, talk to a coach today! They can help you define your goals, set achievable steps, and help you stay accountable to yourself and your ministry partners.
Coaching is a dialogue between a coach and an individual, group, or team to find creative ways to solve challenging problems or improve team performance on key initiatives.
The coach's role is to draw out expertise through inquiry, curiosity, and challenges so that clients can stretch into their best selves.
Lay leaders, deacons, priests, and bishops are all invited to consider coaching. The focus on coaching will always be generated by the coachee; the coach is a partner who listens deeply and asks powerful questions to help the coachee set attainable and timely goals. Learn More and Book a Coach.

Please plan to join us and share this information with your fellow humans who are probably asking some of the same questions that you are asking.

Pride Resources
For decades, LGBTQ+ Episcopalians and allies have worked to make The Episcopal Church a place of belonging and inclusion. We have prayed, studied, and discerned, and in doing so, we have seen the evidence of God’s blessing in the lives and love of our LGBTQ+ siblings in Christ.

The Diocese of Indianapolis also has a great webpage to help you Participate in Pride, Take Action, and Stay informed: https://indydio.org/lgbtqia-toolkit/

| | Refugees & Global Justice | |
HIAS—a refugee resettlement agency with whom Episcopal Migrant Ministries is partnering on this project—is planning a national month of vigils to reclaim our commitment to welcoming immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers to the United States. The vigils will provide communities around the U.S. with the opportunity to come together around our shared values and to hold elected officials to account.
The vigils take place between June 6 and July 6—the respective dates on which the MS St Louis was turned away from U.S. shores in 1939 and the Alien Enemies Act became law in 1798, moments when policies and laws were used to justify the deprivation of civil rights, as we are witnessing today.

Wear Orange on June 8
What does it mean to follow the Prince of Peace in a nation where more than 45,000 people die each year from gun violence?
For the Episcopal Peace Fellowship, it means living out our purpose: “to end violence—in our hearts, in our Church, and in our world—through obeying Christ’s call to justice, peace, and reconciliation.”
Wear Orange Weekend (June 6-8) is a national movement to honor survivors of gun violence, remember those whose lives have been cut short, and demand a future free from the daily scourge of shootings, suicides, and fear.
Orange began as a symbol of safety—the color hunters wear to say “Don’t shoot.” Today, it’s a prophetic sign of resistance and hope.
We invite you to observe Gun Violence Prevention Sunday on June 8 as a public witness of Christ’s peace. Your presence matters. Your voice matters. Your prayers matter.
Here’s how you can take part:
- Wear orange on June 6–8 to stand in solidarity with victims, survivors, and advocates.
- Incorporate prayer, preaching, or silence into your Sunday liturgy—even a simple candle lighting can speak volumes.
- Encourage your parish to join the national movement through liturgical color, community events, or advocacy.
-
Visit WearOrange.org and episcopalpeacefellowship.net for worship resources, ideas, and inspiration.
-
Share your stories with Episcopal Peace Fellowship afterwards (via email, Facebook, Bluesky, or Instagram). Every act of witness -- no matter how small -- helps weave a tapestry of hope.
This work is not easy. But it is holy. And it belongs to all of us.
In orange and in love: let’s show up—together.

Ignite Change—Diaconal Triennial
Triennial 2025: June 5–8 in San Antonio, Texas
We are thrilled to restore the triennial deacon’s conference—the only church-wide conference especially for deacons and friends of the diaconate in The Episcopal Church. If there is something we have all experienced since the pandemic, it is that the rate of change within The Episcopal Church has increased exponentially, and with these changes, the ministry of deacons is increasingly important to the future of our church.
As the Diocese of West Texas studies ways to restore the diaconate, please plan to come so they may see first-hand this important ministry!

Have you ever considered why pine box burials have become less common? Or how one could still be interred in such a manner without adhering to contemporary practices? Additionally, have you thought about human composting and its implications? The phrase "ashes to ashes, dust to dust" signifies our origin from dust and our eventual return to it.
Amidst the ever-evolving challenges of modern life, there are those rare individuals who stand as beacons of hope and guidance, tirelessly working to harmonize the relationship between humanity and the natural world. These are the voices that inspire us to rethink our actions, to tread gently on the earth, and to embrace a profound respect for the interconnectedness of all life.
In this gathering, we are privileged to welcome an individual whose life's work embodies a profound commitment to caring—both for people and for the planet. Her journey is one of deep compassion and practical action, blending the wisdom gained from decades of experience with innovative perspectives on sustainability.
Rev. Julie R. Cribley has provided elderly home care and served as a hospice chaplain for over 35 years. She is also a founding member of Recycle Livingston, a non-profit organization in Howell, MI, where she currently serves as executive director. Her advocacy includes promoting green burial options and human composting with the same enthusiasm she has for recycling and environmental care. She eagerly awaits sharing her insights on honoring our physical bodies at death and restoring our soils with reverence.

What's Next for Prov V Innovation Catalysts (Prov V Rocks!)
The Province V Innovation Catalysts regular monthly zoom gathering will be on hiatus for spring and summer with an eye toward relaunching in the fall of 2025. Our initial gatherings were a great opportunity to pair names with faces and share about our ministries, and we are ready to move toward a more focused style of gathering. Beginning in the fall, each zoom meeting will be facilitated by a different Prov V Innovator on a volunteer basis. When you facilitate, you have two options: present a case study of a struggle or challenge you're facing and ask for input from the group, or teach a concept or practice you have found transformative in your work. We hope to continue our cross-pollination of expertise and experimentation in a more focused way through this model, and we anticipate that a number of potential workshops for the next Big Provincial Gathering will germinate through these gatherings. Please contact Heather at provincevcoordinator@gmail.com if you would be willing to lead a session, and mark your calendars for Sept 17, 2025 for our reconvening this fall!
If you are the contact from your diocese who should be in these conversation, contact Heather Barta for the meeting information.

Improving Cybersecurity: Blocking Unauthorized Access to Your Systems
Cyberattacks are on the rise. Churches and other religious organizations are at increasing risk from cybersecurity threats, such as data breaches, ransomware attacks, and other cyber incidents. On January 25, 2025, ECF faced an attempted, but ultimately unsuccessful, cyberattack on our networks, where a bad actor tried to use ECF email accounts and associated passwords to access our systems from more than 400 IP addresses. The brute force cyberattack was unsuccessful due to proactive measures we had implemented to fortify our systems. This included enabling multifactor authentication (MFA) and disabling legacy authentication. Read more here.
