| | Building Healthier Communities Together: Community Wellbeing Fair a Success | | |
Co-presented by CSCNL and the Health Care Foundation, the Community Wellbeing Fair held on June 4th at Jack Byrne Arena, brought together more than 60 nonprofit organizations, healthcare partners, businesses, and government agencies to connect residents with programs, services, and resources that support health and wellbeing.
One of the event's greatest successes was the meaningful connections made throughout the day -not only between community members and service providers, but also among organizations themselves. These conversations sparked new relationships, shared learning, and opportunities for collaboration that will continue long after the event.

CSCNL extends its sincere thanks to all exhibitors, volunteers, and attendees, as well as our Co-Presenting Partner, the Health Care Foundation, whose leadership, support, and commitment to healthier communities helped bring this initiative to life. We also thank the Jack Byrne Arena, our Venue and Community Partner, for their generosity and hospitality. Together, we are strengthening connections, improving access to supports, and advancing healthier communities across Newfoundland and Labrador.

Rebecca and Port Medway Community Garden, NS – From a place with potential to a place where community gathers
When Rebecca arrived at Rosefinch and the Port Medway Community Garden through the ASCEND program, she was very nervous and very quiet. She had been largely out of the workforce for years, after previous experiences had not felt safe or supportive for her as an autistic person.

Rebecca did an extraordinary amount of hands-on work. She mowed grass, watered regularly between weekly volunteer visits, moved soil, helped plant two new raised beds built with provincial support, and performed Olympic-level weeding that dramatically expanded the usable space. In fact, for the first time in 17 years, the South Shore Public Libraries bookmobile is returning to Port Medway for a regular story hour, partly because of Rebecca’s work.
