CancerCare's Stories of Help and Hope

In this episode of Cancer Out Loud, Christina Monaco meets with oncology dietitian Alexa Dashko to discuss the importance of nutrition during cancer care and treatment.

The podcast explores the emotional impact of dietary choices, misconceptions about food and cancer and the importance of sticking to boundaries and guidelines during treatment. They address food access, cultural considerations, community support and encourage listeners to seek help from dietitians and to prioritize their own needs during their cancer journey.

Listen to their discussion in Episode 78: Food for Thought: Nutrition During Cancer Treatment.

Behind the Barriers: Patient Voices on Access to Treatment

How do health plan barriers disrupt the lives of people living with cancer?

That question is at the heart of CancerCare’s initiative: Micro Insights, Macro Impact.

We’ve spent the past six months uncovering the human impact of health plan barriers:

  • Interviewing patients and caregivers across insurance types
  • Exploring findings with experts
  • Developing resources that empower patients and caregivers to advocate for much-needed policy reforms both personally and with CancerCare

Now, we’re ready to share what we learned.

Join us on June 17, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. ET for the Micro Insights, Macro Impact Webinar:

  • Gain an exclusive, first look at our findings report
  • Access our new advocacy resources
  • Hear more about how we, together, can amplify patients’ insights to fuel meaningful policy change
