Thank you for your valued membership and support this year. Our culminating awards luncheon was held at Patrizia’s in Hauppague, attended by nearly 140 teachers, students, parents and relatives. We celebrated Teacher of the Year Dr. Sandra Braun of Commack High School and New Teacher of the Year Trish Hinchman from the West Islip district, and retirees Patricia LiVecchi and Charles Everitt of Massapequa. If you would like to see pictures of the event and our student winners, please click below:

Did you know that school budgets start on July 1st? That means it is the perfect time to register with LIBTA before you leave for the summer break! Get those PO’s started so you can hit the ground running in the fall. We will be joining with BTANYS for a full day of Professional Development at Hofstra University on Friday, October 23, 2026. A list of breakout sessions and topics will be sent as soon as it is available, so mark your calendars! And if you have a topic you would like to see presented, please let us know.

The New York State Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Finance has issued it’s first newsletter which you can read here:

Some of you will be training this July for the new Business AP class, and we would love to hear more about it. Email us at longislandbusiness1@gmail.com and tell us how it went. New DECA Advisors – you also have free, virtual PD available (and I highly recommend it) – register here: https://tinyurl.com/bdfdcew4 It is for experienced Advisors, too.

Keep that energy up – we are only days away from finishing the teaching part of our school year. Let’s finish strong together, so we can enjoy the beach, the air, and our families. Happy June!
