PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Hello NTMCA!

As summer gets underway, I wanted to take a moment to wish everyone a wonderful season and thank you for all you do to serve your communities. Local elections are behind us, we're hopefully getting our new councilmembers situated and trained, getting the budget process underway, and with any luck, using a bit of downtime to tackle projects.

One of the things I love most about NTMCA is seeing the continuity of our profession. These last few months, we have had the privilege of celebrating several clerks who have retired after distinguished careers of service, while also welcoming new clerks and deputy clerks who are beginning their own professional journeys. To our recent retirees, Susie Hiles, Amy Piukana, and Rita Frick, thank you for the example you have set. To our newest members, welcome! We are excited to learn, grow, and serve alongside you.

Further details are below but I also want to make sure a couple of important NTMCA opportunities are on your radar:

• Athenian Dialogue – July 24, 2026: Join us as we discuss The Let Them Theory with Facilitator Aimee Nemer and explore its practical applications in both our professional and personal lives.

• Clerk and Deputy Clerk of the Year Nominations: Nominations are due June 19, 2026. This is a great opportunity to recognize the outstanding work of municipal clerks and deputy clerks across North Texas.

We hope you'll participate in both of these exciting opportunities. I look forward to seeing many of you this summer!

Lindsay Rawlinson, TRMC, CPM

City Secretary

NTMCA President

Join us on July 24 for our Athenian Dialogue!

Our very own Aimee Nemer will lead the Virtual Dialogue

The Let Them Theory offers a practical and empowering framework for navigating relationships and leadership by focusing on what we can and cannot control. At its core, the book encourages readers to release the urge to manage others’ behaviors, opinions, or decisions (“let them”) and instead take ownership of their own responses, boundaries, and well-being (“let me”). This simple yet profound mindset shift fosters emotional intelligence, reduces stress, and promotes clarity in decisionmaking, making it especially relevant for leaders seeking to build trust, strengthen communication, and lead with confidence and authenticity.

This Dialogue has been preapproved for three IIMC CMC or MMC education points with the satisfactory, timely completion of a learning assessment. Participation in the Dialogue along with satisfactory, timely completion of the learning assessment can also be used toward recertification as TRMC.
