Some of this is adapted from previous newsletters about Jupiter ingresses, or changing signs, but the dates, degrees and signs are unique to this Jupiter ingress. You can see those dates above.
Jupiter changes signs each year, and sometimes it stays in one sign for a year and at other times, it moves through a sign quickly advances to the next sign, and then retrogrades back into the previous sign where it goes direct and still manages to stay in that sign for 11-13 months, even if it is "interrupted" for a time (as in the sidereal zodiac this year). As we see above Jupiter changes signs (ingresses in both tropical and sidereal zodiacs), so whether you follow tropical or sidereal zodiac, you will feel even subtly the changes that Jupiter brings as it moves into a different part of your chart.
This year and next, Jupiter goes through tropical Leo for almost 13 months. On the other hand, Jupiter went through sidereal Cancer between October 17-December 6, 2025, and now it re-enters Cancer from June 1-October 30, 2026, as we see above. It then goes into Leo for a few months and then back into Cancer, which means that you may have had a hint back in October 17-December 6, 2025, what Jupiter in Cancer can bring to your chart, depending on where it is situated. (We will look at Jupiter through both the tropical and sidereal lens in my webinar: What's Next: July-December 2026 on June 21st. Sign up at ronniedreyer.com/schedule.) As usual, every year Jupiter will retrograde for 4 months, this time from December 12, 2026 through April 12, 2027.
In this newsletter, rather than focus on what Jupiter's new sign may mean for the world, since the signs are very different depending on the zodiac that you use, I will focus on what it means for your chart, in terms of Jupiter's meaning and the area of your chart it will travel through. So what makes the ingress of Jupiter into sidereal Cancer or tropical Leo important, is how it affects you.
Wherever Jupiter is positioned is an area where you can expand your horizons, create opportunities, and experience lucky circumstances. It brings abundance, prosperity, but sometimes exaggeration meaning you may aim too high. It is good to always aim high, but to do it realistically otherwise you can get lost in what you want to happen, but not focus on how you make it happen.
On the negative side, it could lead to indulgence and waste in the area where it is positioned, mostly because Jupiter sees the big picture, and wants everything to be large and exaggerated. In order for Jupiter to do its best work, try to focus on taking the larger vision that you have and transforming it into something structured and productive. Whichever house Jupiter transits is an area where you will expand, and one that will make you happy, feel positive, and fill you with optimism. This still is in effect even when other planets are in more difficult places, and especially when it retrogrades for 4 months, as it does every year, as long as you keep your eyes on the prize. Jupiter retrograde only slows things up but does not obliterate and destroy. But that is for later in the year.
Oftentimes, even if Jupiter can bring opportunities and optimism to the house where it travels, remember that if you plan something and are too optimistic, you can sometimes apply less effort, as you may think that things will simply fall into place without trying. Do your best not to move in that direction, since Jupiter can waste opportunities if you are not savvy enough to notice them and take advantage of them. My first astrology teacher used to say that Jupiter will not simply make opportunities appear, but will allow you to recognize opportunities when they show up, or create them for yourself when it is the perfect time and place to do so.
Think about the zodiac you use. If you use a tropical zodiac, then look at the house or houses that Leo occupies. If you use a whole sign house system, then it will only occupy one house and Jupiter will be there for one year. If you use an unequal house system (quadrant houses), then Leo may take up two houses, and if so, you can see when Jupiter transits each house including the time it retrogrades. If Leo is intercepted in a quadrant house system then Jupiter will only stay in one house until it moves into Virgo next year.
If you use a sidereal zodiac, then Cancer and Leo will each occupy one house, and you can see which area is being affected each time Jupiter enters and retrogrades back into each sign. In either case Jupiter will be in Cancer from June 1-October 30, and will be in Leo from October 30-January 25, and then back into Cancer from January 25-June 25, 2027. In each case and whichever zodiac you use, the affairs of the house or houses where Jupiter travels through will be energized and expanded.
Say goodbye to the affairs of the house that sidereal Gemini or tropical Cancer occupied, and say hello to the affairs of the house that sidereal Cancer occupies, which started June 1st or tropical Leo will occupy beginning June 30th.

The bhava (house) in your chart where Cancer and Leo are placed are the areas where you may experience abundance, optimism, opportunity, expansion, and prosperity but also should watch out for indulgence, overdoing, and being unrealistic about what you need to do to accomplish your goals. If you do not know which bhavas Cancer and Leo occupy, look at your lagna (ascendant), or Moon, or even your Sun (if you do not know your ascendant or Moon), and just count from there. Other bhavas that will feel the effects of Jupiter in Cancer include the places that Jupiter aspects, which include the bhavas that Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces occupy. Since Moon is the dispositor or ruler of Cancer, the house where Moon is placed in your natal chart can also receive the benefit of Jupiter's transit.
Once Jupiter enters Leo, other bhavas that will feel the effects of Jupiter in Leo include the places that Jupiter aspects, which include the bhavas that Sagittarius, Aquarius, and Aries occupy. Since Sun is the dispositor or ruler of Leo, the house where the Sun is placed in your natal chart can also receive the benefit of Jupiter's transit.
